Boro have made an approach for Michaels younger brother Graeme to be included in our first team staff.

Graeme Carrick is currently coaching Newcastle under 18s.

Presume this maybe Danks Replacment if goes to Bayern?

I doubt he's moving from U18 to first team coach. Usual career path is U18 --> Reserve --> First team coach

True but this isn’t a normal move. It’s a brother of the first team manager so you would expect a bit of a Leap. It does say first team in the article

I live in Newcastle and have met Graeme twice through a mutual friend who played with him at West Ham. He is a really good guy and very well regarded at Newcastle who saw him as someone who can move through the coaching ranks. I doubt they want to lose him. I think this is a good move for us and Carrick won’t just be giving his brother a job. He doesn’t work like that.

I'd prefer us to bring in staff on the basis of their ability not who they know. A little disappointing if truth be told.

He’s a highly rated coach. Anyone associated with Newcastle would say the same. Do you think Gibson and Carrick would just appoint someone into a really important position because it’s a mate? I can’t see it.

I can't honestly say the jobs for the boys things bothers me that much anyway, in football anyway. Its not as if all the appointments Boro make with no ties have turned out to be roaring successes.

Don’t be silly, you think we’re hiring him because he’s Carricks brother? He’s very highly thought of at a top premier league club and he’s dropping down to join us.
Do you think we would've looked at hiring him if he wasn't Carrick's brother. Of course we wouldn't.

He worked with the England youth set up as a coach also coached Newcastle under 18s and managed them so he will have plenty of contacts in the game a bit like Danks really. I'm pleased with this, mainly because I always tried to get him as assistant manager on FM23 as he was class on it 😁.
