Government Considers Banning Betting Companies from Clubs Sponsorship

Good idea

On a side note, when was the last time you saw a gambling ad that had anything but smiling faces and people winning money.
Personally I don`t think the ads represent a true reflection of gambling and the effects it can have
 
Should have been done years ago it’s shocking how much influence betting companies have on uk sport.

Where’s theres betting there corruption it’s that simple.

I’m not saying outlaw betting but they should not have a direct influence in sport.

It's an addiction, some will always let take over them, most will enjoy or take it and leave it, but no one should be encouraged to do it by advertisement.
 
Interesting that 8 Premier League Clubs have betting company sponsors but none of the big 6. 2 of the three promoted clubs do. This however increases to 17 of the 24 Championship Clubs
 
How the hell they got away with the slogan

When the fun stops stop.

As above it’s an addiction addicts don’t know when the fun starts let alone stop.

It’s like the pub industry saying to alcoholics just have one then.

I agree heartedly with the move but why did we allow them so much influence in the first place? And because they dominate the shirt sponsorship market it’s going to be tough for teams to replace them.

True but If F1 can survive without tobacco then anything is possible.

As think about the classic cars and they are all cigarette packages the black John player special lotus, the blue and white Williams Rothmans and of course the iconic red and white Marlboro mclarens.
 
i remember when people thought sport would die with banning smoking ads...
for me, they can ban the whole lot of betting ads...
People know where the betting shps and internet sites are...
Like its been said, they portray betting as a cant lose past time when its really a dangerous and adictive thing...
 
I hate the fact that we are sponsored by betting firms. Our players funded by other people's misery. Like tobacco there is no positive argument in favour of allowing it, removing it will remove some money from the game but the market will settle.
 
Good move. If we dont have a sponsor could we put the badge back on the white stripe. Would look classy instead of tacky like it does now
