I think it was on the Peter Crouch podcast a couple of years back where he suggests he was told he was leaving and was disappointed as he thought he would be here a while, memory is a bit hazy though.

When I was a younger I was gutted when we sold Stuart Ripley but he went on and won the Premier league with Blackburn so fair play to him, cracking player, I could say the same about Gary Pallister too and look what he went on to achieve.

Think you've answered your own question there

In any case I think it can be true that he was happy to go (particularly given Pulis wanted rid so he didn't make him look bad by scoring goals and playing better than Gestede despite not being 6 foot 3) but would also have been happy to stay if the manager rated him.

I think the short answer is not many at all.

Morsey is the only one mentioned who wanted to stay and we chose to sell and I'm not sure that was a bad decision either, despite Ipswich's success this season

He was on the decline but still good enough for the prem for another year or 2 and better than what we replaced him with.
