Good news about your lottery ticket

I came down this morning and checked my emails and received the following e-mail from the lottery 'Good news about your lottery ticket.'

Whilst logging into my lottery account, I am trying to play it down and thinking I will have matched two or three numbers. For that split moment though of logging into your account you are thinking it could be me, I might have hit the jackpot or maybe the next prize down. The excitement is running through your veins in anticipation, you are telling yourself over and over that it will be nothing but still daring to dream, someone's got to win it, why not me? I finally get logged into my account and bang I had won £2.30, it's not even a free go which costs £2.50.

Oh well, it will go towards Tuesday's divvy tax and I will dream of what might have been. ;)

It's amazing how quick a mental journey you can take between reading those subject lines and actually reading the email.

As my finger taps the screen, I'm wheel-spinning my Porsche 911 Turbo, flicking V's after sending my notice into work in the form of a paper airplane, but once my eyes read the text I'm just upgrading my own brand cooking sauce to Loyd Grossman instead.

Years ago when I did the Euro Millions I used to get emails with the subject ‘We have amazing news about your lottery ticket’.

The first time I seen it I had to take a deep breath and prepare myself only to find out I won £2.50.

Someone told me the earlier the email time stamp the better the prize, not sure whether it’s true or not but an email around 12.40ish is usually about £2.50 in my experience.

I ran the synd at work for our IT dept , played the Euros only , when it was a rollover. I checked all 15 ish tix sat morning , manually. We once got 4 main numbers and 1 bonus ball. I was having kittens , was on my own in flat nursing a wine based headache, thinking omg , this might be nice , not enough to leave work but was thinking 4 figures each player, buy some nice new toys, looked at the prize board, was like 85 quid  Just for the extra blow, normally that level of prize could go as high as 165 but loads of tix that week won so was the lowest payout at that level for years  So everybody got a fiver. And I lost a bit of interest in runnng the synd after that.

I have a DD set up to play some numbers and just take money out each month for same numbers each week. Have done for many a year..

In the past had many of these emails telling me about amazing news about the ticket, and many times entered my account to be disappointed by the prize. To the point I just stopped checking.

Cut to one Sunday… had been playing football , came back of the pitch had several missed called of a number, can’t remember was withheld or just a number I didn’t have In phone book.

Went to pub had a couple of calls I just ignored, back to my girlfriend parents at the time for Sunday dinner and another couple of calls, not convenient to pick up.

After dinner and chilling watching super Sunday the call came again, the curiosity and persistence got better of me, so I picked up.

It was “inset name” from National lottery HQ and need to speak to me about my account. That bolted me in to action, sat upright mind going crazy… (remembering about the email I got about the amazing news about my ticket)

🛩️🌏🛫🏖️🍸🍹💰💸💵💶💴🤑

Patiently went through security with excitement building…

Turns out the price of the lottery ticket was increasing and wanted permission to increase my DD going forward…

Was slightly deflated and told them to stick it… had to ring up few weeks later to increase my DD

But for a couple of minutes you had that day dream. Worth 20p
I know someone who doesn't even check his tickets.
He realises the chances of winning the jackpot are tiny but if he doesn't check then he might be a millionaire.
A bit like Schrödinger's cat, he is a millionaire and not a millionaire at the same time until he checks.

I was getting excited for your there, I thought the follow was going to be
”You don’t need to check yours, because I’ve WON💥💥🥂……..It’s Mine…ALL MINE”🤑🌴😎
I thought there was going to be a pint in it for us.😭

Sick to flipping death of the lotteries.
Apart from a couple of free tickets I have not won a penny on the Irish, euro or national lottery for just over 3 years.
I'd pack it in but I could guarantee my numbers would come out the first time I.missed it.

I think that is the case, certainly with the Lotto. If you win a Lucky dip on a Saturday the email isn't sent out until Sunday morning. If you win 3 numbers the email goes out around midnight on the Saturday.
Unfortunately, the 1 time I did get 4 numbers I don't know when it was sent.

The best I've won is £61 on the Christmas Day draw.

When the wife came down this morning and I told her we had won £2.30, she immediately replied "we are warming up for the big one." What a load of bollox. 🤣 🤣 🤣

I just knew she would say it. ;)

I win absolutely feck all. I do a line on euro millions every Friday via direct debit. I don't even know my numbers.

Just waiting for an email or phone call saying I've won😂.

The most I've had is probably £5. I had a ex who won £777 on a lucky 7 scratch card. That's the most I've ever known win.

I got 5 numbers on the Euros once. £48! Still, better than a poke in the eye.

That was 3 numbers 2 lucky stars.

If I’d got 5 numbers 0 lucky stars I’d have got £40k approximately.

Lucky stars? Pah!
