Golf Holiday Recommendations

Hi Red76 - I book an annual trip for anywhere between 8 and 12 golfers and have been doing so for over 20 years now. We are going this year (end of April) to Portugal for 5 nights and 4 rounds for £515 + flights. I can give you more details if you want them. Vilamoura in Portugal is getting very expensive but Tavira is an excellent base and a lot cheaper (if you avoid Monte Rei golf). We have done France (very easy via Eurotunnel) and Lisbon as well as most of the Algarve. Also booked plenty in U.K. and prices can vary wildly depending on when and where. If you just want decent courses rather than headline courses it can work out reasonable.
Hope you get something sorted but let me know if you want any advice.

I go to constance belle plage in may to play golf for wifeys 50th really looking forward to it we are all inclusive so golf is free😎 hoping to get some fishing in as well
You'll have a fantastic time! The food and wine is incredible. We thought 'La Spiaggia' was the best of a very good set of choices - but you can do the set menu at a couple over the course of a week. There are two courses, one next to the Belle Mare Plage and the other 'links' (nothing like a links, in fact it's pretty hilly) a 15 mins shuttle ride away. You'll get the buggies free on all inclusive too 👍🏻

I'm flexible really, trying to talk four lads into going Golfing, all play golf but have a feeling it might work out too expensive for some, and end up opting for just lads non golfing holiday.
In the late 90s and early 2000s I spent a lot of time looking for a holiday home with access to golf.

Mainly in mainland Europe.

As others have mentioned. Depending on the time of year just about everywhere can cost a fortune.

If you are thinking of a winter golf break look at the climate information for where you are thinking of booking.

As particularly in mainland Europe a week long holiday can be rained on every day in some parts of Europe. In the autumn, winter and spring.

Try to find somewhere in the bottom right hand corner of mainland Spain. If you want a short flight within Europe. Somewhere east of Málaga round to South of Alicante is your best chance of dry weather. On a shortish break in the winter.

Even then you might be unlucky with the weather in the winter.

Also look for places that have a dry micro climate. There are areas (and golf courses) that have less rainfall than places around them. Due to the geography of the small area they are located in. For example, protected by hills etc.

I have never played in Turkey. So cannot say about there.

Enjoy your trip if you managed to sort one out.

Also look at wind speeds as well as rainfall. As trying to to play golf with wind speeds about 8-10 m/s is difficult.

I find it not very enjoyable.

A lot of resorts have all kinds inclusive golf. Just beware of the compulsory extras.. buggy hire and caddy. You can do it yourself or there are many packages available.

Yep. I got made redundant in the early 2000s and had already booked a 2 week golf holiday in Mauritius. It did not mention that buggies and caddies were compulsory in the booking. So it was a shock to my finances finding out that we had to pay for caddies every time we played.

Belek is pretty much all inclusive, even some of the golf club houses, the Monty springs to mind. So once there i think only maybe buggies and transfers will cost if not in your deal. Could work out cheaper than lads week on the drink depending on what you’d be up to 🤫

Thanks for the info

Never had the thought of a golfing holiday in mind until reading this... I have now priced up 7 days at the Cornelia Diamond in September! :ROFLMAO:

The Montgomerie Maxx looks incredible.

Thanks guys!!

After a few horrible wet and windy days the sun has returned. Also snow on the mountains in the distance.

The Montgomerie course is really good. Fun to play. The two courses at the Titanic are good. Sultan and Pasha also good - the Pasha is good for your first round because it's not too hard, so great as a warm up for tougher courses to come.

The Faldo course is not everyone's cup of tea. It's all a bit fiddly and there's a lot of local knowledge. Too many holes where the difference between the perfect line and no shot is about 5 yards.

Most of the courses there good, fun and the service is very good.
