Goalies in short sleeves

How did this ever become a thing? I'm not advocating a return to roll neck wooly jumpers...although on reflection, I am.

I thought that was part of the ruling, a keeper had to wear long sleeves.

Recently watched the big match revisited on ITV4 and a game from very early 80‘s which had only 1 goalkeeper wearing gloves

these days nearly all 22 players wear them #fannies

For all of the innovative design, fabric development and technology that goes into producing special gloves for the elite-level goalkeepers to catch footballs, it’s brilliant that they still haven’t produced anything that outperforms a big mouthful of spittle.

I don’t remember the game or who the goalie was but I remember being stood on the holgate as he donned his cap to around 500 shouts of ‘mr grimsdale’ in a Norman Wisdom voice
