Give Sunland their due

Newly promoted and made it to the playoffs.

If, in the unlikely event we fail to get through tomorrow i will console myself with the progress we have made this season.

Their fans should too. Even though I can’t bear them, I can sympathise with them tonight, for probably one time only.

Off to wash my mouth out and have a stern word with meself

Yeah, as much as I dislike them, this has been a really good season for them.

They've been in League One for 4 years and got in the play-offs in their first season back.

It's taken us almost as long to manage the same and we've had for less adversity.

Totally agree with your comments tbf. There are several clubs before Sunderland in my dislike book. I am sure they’ll progress next season with decent recruitment. I wanted them to lose as were we to get to Wembley, the distractions would be obvious and unhelpful to our cause.

I am guessing Wembley will be having empty seats whoever wins our leg now Luton have made it

I had a bet on them on the handicap as I thought they would be top 8. It didn't win but was in the right ball park.

They finished well last season and were spending decent cash for the Championship. They also tend to do well when they get a momentum going, because they can get crowds of over 40k and big away followings.

They were missing too many defenders against Luton in both games. They have found out the hard way what a hard slog the Championship is.

They have done incredibly well to get to the play offs.
But I am absolutely delighted they got beat and don't give flying one about how they feel - including Mowbray.
Now it is all about us earning our right to play the team who finished third, at Wembley for a place in the Premier League.
Luton deserve to be at Wembley, let's prove we do too.
(I'm confident we will)

May struggle next season, they will lose their best players.

Diallo back to Man U
Stewart to PSG/ Real Madrid

And.......ummmmmmm........🤔🤔

Expect Moggas usual modus operandi - get a fast start, be right up there, then the wheels fall off spectacularly mid season. Sink like a stone.

Reminds me a bit of 98 when we pipped them to automatic and they missed out against Charlton in the playoffs (taxi for Miss Gray). They smashed the league next season as Gibbo might say.

I found myself cheering them on last night in the second half which I had to keep checking myself. I think it was mainly the way Luton play and go about their business that made me prefer sunderland.

But then they had Kevin Phillips, Niall Quinn and a few other decent players.

They won't be smashing anything next season apart from a few seagulls.
