Germany to legalise cannabis.

I think the law will change - once Germany do it how long before the rest of europe follows? Its already legal in lots of US states. It will take time but it will happen here too.
The dominos keep falling. We've had a tiny country in Uruguay, various US states, one smallish country in Canada, one large US state in California and if Germany joins the club then that is one huge domino. the Schengen area already contains the Netherlands and Spain, both of whom have fairly liberal cannabis laws. Throw Germany into the mix with full legalisation and there will hardly be any need for cannabis prohibition.

All about votes. That's all the Tories care about. Not sure there's an appetite for change so can't see it happening tbh.

Ok, so how is home production of cannabis extremely financially damaging to “big Pharma” and why is this a good thing?
Try Googling "Medicinal benefits of Cannabis". I'll be surprised if you get any negative hits.

Big Pharma are peddling drugs to counteract the side effects of other drugs they've already mugged us off with.

Anti-biotics are over-prescribed and as a result, bacteria are becoming immune to them.

The Western World is currently addicted to prescription pain-killers.

Check out the excellent mini-series Dopesick (starring Michael Keaton) to get an idea of why Big Pharma and the Tories fight natural remedies tooth and nail.

You could be right about the votes thing. I wouldn't expect the UK to be the next domino to fall. Interestingly in Germany, the people talking about legalisation are a brand new coalition of three parties that have just won the GE. Perhaps it's a mentality thing. or our politicians are too lacking in courage. The only ones who talk sense about drugs seem to be the retired.

Apart from your first and possibly your third (although you’ve not surprisingly got the wrong culprit) paragraph the rest of your post is utter conspiracy nonsense garbage

Also your ridiculous comment about natural remedies: what does that mean? “Big Pharma” sell natural remedies such as drugs derived from poppy seed and willow bark. To name two obvious ones.

It's because the majority of our population and those that they elect still live in the 1940s.

Right, you do know how to quote/reply, so post evidence of your serious allegation that I advocated heroin abuse or STFU.
OK maybe I'll explain because, as usual for this place you're getting stupidly angry.

What exactly were you advocating by arguing that Heroin is no more addictive than a popular and legal drug such as alcohol? it sounds very much like you were promoting it's use.

If I'm wrong and you were arguing that alcohol should be illegal then I apologise. I find that a more reaosnable stance than arguing pro heroin.

Also we are digressing here: My point was people seem to be arguing the cannabis should be legal because it's "Natural" and I was just pointing out that so is heroin, as it's plant derived as well.

Bacteria becoming resistant to anti biotics is not conspiracy nonsense. It's been discussed widely for years now. Heck the NHS even had a PR campaign a few years back about not bothering the GP's for tablets for the common cold.

Did you read my post Randy?

No need for that. I had a valid point that he hasn't been able to answer. It' snot my fault people would rather get angry and rage than explain themselves.

That's what it's derived from, yeah.
Derived is different to just being that thing. Heroin for example requires Opium to be extracted, converted into Morphine and then refined into heroin, and requires all kinds of chemicals to produce. If you smoke a dried poppy you aren't going to get lit.

You can extract raw opium from poppies, but its a laborious process and as mentioned, poppies are not illegal to grow or own.

So canabis you just basically pick a leaf and eat it then? It's going back to this "Weed must be legal because it's natural" fallacy that I keep questioning.

Questioning it with an example of a plant that is both natural and legal? I don't see how that does anything other than add weight to that argument.

Anybody that has grown Cannabis will know that it is a tricky business. Planting a seed is fine - it grows like a weed - Nurturing the flowering buds, harvesting, drying and curing is a different thing altogether - especially in this country.

You can say the same about many fruits, veg or other plants grown in this country. We are both keen gardeners and my partner grows many things from seed in a propogator, balances ph of soils, wraps things in winter etc, very few things are just a case of plant and grow.

if anything poppies are the easiest because you just cut them open and drain them, it's just slow work.
