German player booked for walking the ball into the net

A ridiculous booking. He wasn't being challenged, it was up to the defending side to challenge him. The ball was kept rolling, it's not like he obstructed it or anything. Not a booking imo.

Are you happy with his behaviour?

Why didn’t he just put the ball in the net and run away to celebrate with his teammates?

Wouldn’t say I am happy and it’s not exactly the ‘moral’ thing to do but he was just running the clock down a bit before putting the ball in the net. It’s not and never has been a booking. The refs had a shocker

He was goading the opposition in my opinion, he should have just kicked it in the net and had done with it.

I’ve watched the video now.

Shocking behaviour by the attacking player, no example to watching kids is it?

It really is time football cleaned up it’s act, this low life behaviour belongs in the past.

Well done the ref.

This is

a) Utter nonsense

b) Wind up

Just remember this - football is entertainment

It's created a thread with over 1000 views and 45+ replies so yes, I think we've all been entertained, including you :)

Bad sportsmanship, behaving like a bit of a knob. Not sure that’s a booking.

Mind you, if you get booked for taking your shirt off ...

I think the point is that if one of the opposition players became, shall we say, a little upset by his attitude then at the first opportunity you might have seen a red card and a pair of broken legs.

That’s the danger, these things can have ugly consequences.

The ref did right to stamp on him before somebody else did.

Goading and provocation is part of the game. Winding up the opposition so they make mistakes.

The players that can handle it, the ones that channel the negative energy into positive, the ones that are strong enough to ignore the taunts and become all the better for it, make the best players.

So in that respect, if the opposition players lost control as a result of the taunt, then more fool them.

Ok we will have to agree to disagree.
