It wasn't. The offside law had been changed in 1925 by reducing the number of players from three to two and it was this that led to an increase in the number of goals scored in the ensuing period.

Very good. One interesting point he misses. This was Camsell's first full season after leaving his job as a miner. He wasn't first choice striker, and only came into the team for the fifth game of the season because of an injury to Jimmy McClelland.

Something I heard by word of mouth, many years ago, if anyone can fill in the gaps. Apparently there was shenanigans in the match where Dean broke the record, at Stamford Bridge?

There should be two books appearing about George Camsell over the next couple of years, from Tosh Warwick and then Paul Menzies. Looking forward to them both. We will learn a great deal more about the inter war goal machine.
