General Election - Second half of 2024

Wes Streeting on TV this morning adamant that the election will be in May - I can't see it, but I hope he's right.
I can't see it either. Greg Hands was rabbiting on this morning about the Tories not being focused on election at this moment as it will be later in the year.

Labour's policy on Gaza in the last 5 months will have lost them votes, particularly among the muslim community.

Does anyone have the stats on how the UK muslim communities voted at the last election?

That’s the story that the media (and some politicians) would have you believe. Like a great many things, it doesn’t match up with reality though.

BH thanks for that - I didn't think millions of young people suddenly voted who previously didn't, but those who were interested in voting, voted more for Labour which would have helped Labour obtain 40% of the overall vote their highest percentage since 2001. My students tended to be more likely to vote than the average student whatever the year. Also look at Canterbury with a very large student population, didn't Labour win it for the first time since 1945. At the opposite end I think the the two Conservative gains were East Cleveland and Mansfield - areas with I would guess lower numbers of voting young people than the National average.
