GB sprinter tests positive

"The relay team shall be automatically disqualified from the event in question, with all resulting consequences for the relay team, including the forfeiture of all titles, awards, medals, points and prize and appearance money". Despicable if true and a real kick in the teeth for the *clean athletes. RK must be gutted.

*im assuming.

Thats a disaster for the other three in the team, imagine what they are thinking right now after all that hard work. I think there may be another sample that needs testing but its not looking good.

As mentioned above there is Ujah's B sample to be tested first (assuming he requests it), which I presume he's bound to. Hopefully there is a mistake or acceptable explanation. Kilty will be gutted. He seemed the most delighted to have got the silver.

If it doesn't work out, then sadly his quote about looking back in 20 years after they've retired.... it's not even 20 days!

Fingers crossed!

Gutted for Richard K. Very very few of these tests get over turned on the B sample.

I hope it's an honest mistake, surely no one would be that stupid?

If he was only in an individual event whilst I would still despise him as a cheat, his behaviour would have only impacted himself. The fact he knew he had took a banned substance that would cost his team mates a medal as well but still did it sets him apart as an absolute low life for me and I wouldn’t be surprised if Keilty decks him if they cross paths again.

He had a marked difference since 2017; huge improvements leading to him winning British champs. Came from nowhere, definitely looks fishy but could be a false result but doesn’t look good for him or them.

Talking about drugs.... I actually wondered the same thing about the Italian lad Jacobs who won the individual 100m. He only broke 10 seconds for the first time in May. To find another two metres (9.80 secs) by the Olympic final is amazing. It was a fast track though, admittedly.

I wouldn't mind being in their watts app group and reading what they are saying to him, feel sorry for the innocent lads and dont know what goes on in the heads of these athletes who know the spotlight is massive on athletics doping and think they can get away with it. Obviously he has been taking it for a while so why didn't he get tested by GB doctors before travelling to rule this nonsense out and let someone go who deserves to. Bad day for GB Athletics and puts a shadow on everything we achieved over the last few weeks.

Yep it's that simple.

Sporting doping is rarely done in isolation, and a number of people are usually complicit in it. Also the testing is a constant battle between the authorities and the dopers with the authorities by and large constantly playing "catch up".

In which case, all medal winners in the event must be under suspicion.

In cycling, which I'm a lot more familiar with, doping is often run at a team level and suspicion is thrown onto the whole team as well as the individual who tests positive. The reaction is primarily "he was a lone wolf, we had no idea", but athletes, in my opinion, rarely dope in isolation without some level of medical advice / support.

Why we still participate in this charade of pretending Olympic athletes are not juiced up ill never know.

Almost all of the fastest sprinters have popped at some point in their career.

Its a farce. Its just who can get around the testing protocols at this point. Theyre all at it.

Let them crack on i say.
