A report from today. Can you replace the incorrect word?

Recorder Anthony Dunne sentenced Willis to three years and four months in a Young Offenders Institution. Addressing the defendant, he said: "It's clear from the Facebook messages that there was hospitality between the two of you”.

Sadly the Gazette, along with all Reach (provincial) newspapers is written by journalists in their own homes. There is no central office. There isn't even an editor. I don't even know what the checking process is these days. Perhaps one of you knows. I know the different sports writers in the region form a little team together (Although some local papers no longer have a sports reporter!) It must be nice for the sports guys to be in a team and to feel like they have a little support and are not just totally out there on their own. It must be extremely challenging compared to a decade ago in an office with colleagues to bounce things off, learn from and even check your work over.

I used to use the Gazette website as a teaching tool with primary school kids. They had to identify and correct the grammar and punctuation errors. I don't think they proofread anything.
I'm worried that they do proofread, but fail to spot any errors.

I used to love legging it to local and pick up the sports gazette as a kid with the occasional free poster if lucky . Can’t remember the last time I bought a sports gazette ( I’m guessing they don’t exist now anyway )

I'm not sure they write much now either. Half of it is cut and paste from social media.

How very cordial of them

I must admit that the sport section is a lot worse since Dom Shaw left. They seem to write how they speak instead of using the correct grammar.

In senior school I used to pop into the news agents on Burns Road next to the school at lunch time to read the back page of the gazette.
