He's been a top player, and despite his injuries he definitely was a crowd pleaser, which is basically the main reason why we watch the game. I can't remember him [ever] making a bad tackle or being controversial, just a brilliant player.

Not a huge surprise, given the MLS season it seemed like he’d just gone there to try and keep some fitness before the World Cup. Probably would have retired at the end of his Madrid contract if Wales hadn’t qualified or the world cup was in the summer.
Its odd for a player who won so much and achieved a lot internationally, there’s still that aspect he could have done more individually.

100% he wanted to perform at the World Cup but his body wasnt supporting that desire... shame to watch really.
