Fosu-Mensah & Beka Beka

Is it just me that thinks that these two might be coming in? We have two definite a clear over 21 spots on the squad.. we have two big squad numbers that are available (two and five) and we had two private jets during the transfer window that are unaccounted for one from Germany and one from France.. more specifically Dortmund and Nice.

2 Timothy Fosu-Mensah 27yo dutch right-back that we’ve been looking for.. last seen at Bayer 04 Leverkusen he’s well known to Carrick and we’re not shy of picking up a player back from injury ala Watmore

5 Alexis Beka Beka 23yo old French midfielder released from Nice currently looking for a club.. he’s been out for nearly a year but 100% ticks all of our boxes.

Maybe they are not ready to go straight into the first XI.. but they could very well be the difference when it comes to the play offs.. even if it is reducing the load on our first string players initially.

Not sure many teams in the championship would be too keen on seeing a midfield three of Beka Beka—Morris—Hackney and even if Fosu-Mensah plays only one game for us this season.. it could be the playoff final and he could be the difference that sends us over the line.

Axel Tuanzebe was written off and played his part for Ipswich. Being honest about it.. these are the most Boro signings.. we love an underdog and we love a bargain.. and if truth be told.. we love the art of defending.

Let’s get it done!

Newy ! you should audition for something on TV, anything really. You could make any collection of nouns and verbs add a few adjectives and I would buy it.

I would wheel you in the dressing room every half-time and I think they would just knock down the dressing room door and start wind milling.

I'm not sure what your occupation is ? but if it isn't sales you are wasted.

Daniel Amartey? 18 month contract?
Yucel said: "Amartey is a strange person. We made an agreement with a team from Saudi Arabia, but he did not get on the plane. We agreed [a deal] with Eyupspor, but he escaped through the back door of our facilities.

"He said: 'I will go to Germany or England'. When he was told the transfer window is closed, he said: 'How will it close?'"

20 games in the premier league 2022/23
18 games in the super lig 2023/24

Could be another canny bargain!

Alisher Shukerov - international CM free agent who looks like he eats raw meat and mackems for breakfast .
Get him in , imagine Maddo trying to pronounce that name !
Newy , get the note put under the door sharpish .

Glover/Travers <> Dieng

Dijksteel/Fosu-Mensah <> Smith
Fry/Ayling <> Lenihan
RVDB/Edmunson <> Clarke
Borges/Giles <> Engel

Morris/Beka Beka <> Barlaser
Hackney/Amartey <> Howson

Forss/Whittaker <> Jones
Azaz/Palmer <> Hamilton
Burgzorg/Iling-Junior <> Gilbert

Conway/Iheanacho <> Latte Lath

THAT is the near perfect window for me and leaves us with a squad that I can genuinely see competing in the playoffs. No huge outlay either with all incoming players being virtually covered by our outgoing players.

Trabzonspor were showing interest in Dan Barlaser in the summer.. he

Dieng <> Travers
an absolute no brainer.. high quality keeper to cover for our injured main man.

Smith <> Fosu-Mensah
it hasn’t happened.. but would make perfect sense. similar levels and similar situations. well worth the risk.

Lenihan <> Ayling
we are crying out for leadership at the back and while Luke’s days as a dazzling wingback might be over.. he seems almost genetically built to see out his career in central defence.

Clarke <> Edmunson
didn’t want to extend his contract changed out for someone who did.

Engel <> Giles
we tried to replicate him and just about managed it.. the intensity of the championship just seemed a little out of reach.

Barlaser <> Beka Beka
a technical midfielder who just lacks in the defensive side of the game for what we need. Beka Beka would be an upgrade and would be at the perfect club to kick start his career.

Howson <> Amartey
that much needed ingredient of an experienced body in midfield former Iheanacho team mate should fit in quickly.

Jones <> Whittaker
looks like an ideal exchange for all parties involved. Jones gets his move to the London club who play wingbacks and Whittaker gets to link up with Azaz again in a team challenging for promotion.

Hamilton <> Palmer
both are getting just what they need at this stage in their careers.. Hamilton need game time and Palmer needs to be closer to the first team making the odd appearance here and there.

Gilbert <> Iling-Junior
Similar to Hamilton in a way.. infact they could be interchangeable. Iling-Junior is the next level up and can be consistently relied upon.

Latte Lath <> Iheanacho
such a big player to replace.. even though there were a few signs that the intensity of the championship were starting to take their toll. from the line of Akpom the torch has been passed a LONG time target we have finally got our man. He may not be appreciated fully by our fans who may not recognise the impact he will have on our forwards. more of a false 9 than Akpom.. he’ll definitely have our other forwards getting the plaudits.. selfless, humble, and unfailingly polite.. we may even see why Pep Guardiola insisted on a £50m buy back clause.

as a side note I read something recently showing championship spends.. cost and value and apart from Leeds and Burnley squads £100m worth more than our own it showed Sunderland’s squad being worth more than they paid in comparison to our own.

Fosu-Mensah, Beka Beka & Amartey would most definitely readdress that balance and put us back at the table as a top three championship squad.

Fosu-Mensah, despite being 27, still has less than 100 first team appearances.

Is this the result of injury or just not being very good?

Ajax youth team, Man Utd academy..

Man Utd to Bayer Leverkusen with three International caps for the Netherlands along the way.. 40 premier league appearances and 23 bundesliga appearances..

In fact, he only played 30 games in three years due to extensive injury issues. In a quite unbelievable statistic, he “has spent 935 days injured in his professional career and has been unavailable for 146 games as a result”.

It is easy to forget how talented the youngster was. When on loan at Crystal Palace in the 2017-2018 season, Manchester City’s Leroy Sane called the Dutchman one of his “toughest opponents”.

Speaking to the newspaper, the 26 year old spoke of how helpful Jose Mourinho was to his development.

“I spent the full [2016/17] season with the first team and as a result of that, I completed a full pre-season with them for the first time. I was still a teenager when Jose Mourinho arrived and he helped me mature into becoming a man in footballing terms”.

“Jose was tough on young players with his demands but in a good way because he wanted you to be ready to represent a club the size of Manchester United. He helped make me stronger mentally and physically”.

The former Ajax player went on to praise the Portuguese coach further by claiming, “overall, I have to say that I really enjoyed working under Jose Mourinho. He was really good with me as a young player. He is open-minded and he is a very good manager, as his career has shown”.

However, two seasons of loans at Palace and Fulham and a knee ligament injury meant that the defender didn’t make a United matchday squad between May 2017 and June 2020.

Fosu-Mensah would go on to make four appearances for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, including the FA Cup and Europa League semi-finals of the 2019-2020 campaign.

The fullback started the opening day of the 2020-21 campaign but was deemed to play poorly, so received few chances thereafter from the Norwegian coach. Thus, once offered a new deal, he claims that he rejected it due to feeling “undervalued” by the terms of the deal. It was then he decided to try his luck elsewhere.

Commenting on the move he claimed, “it was my decision. The manager was good to me but at the end, I was not playing a lot. When you are 22, 23, or 24 years old you need to be playing. I didn’t play much and I wanted to. It was the best decision in the end to go somewhere else where I would get more minutes”.

The Bayer Leverkusen player has no ill feeling towards Solskjaer and credits him for giving him a chance after the long injury layoff.

“Ole has been very good to me. I spoke with him because he had a big injury as a player so he knew exactly how I felt. When I played against Crystal Palace after 16 months, he was very happy for me. These were very good moments. He knew I had the quality. I have no bad things to say about him because he has been very good to me”.

All United fans will certainly be hoping that the former United academy product can once and for all put his injury woes behind him and help Bayer Leverkusen go on to wrestle the Bundesliga title away from the clutches of the juggernaut of Bayern Munich.

Could definitely be one for our assistant manager to get to grips with having struggled with injuries himself as defender throughout his career as at the top levels.
