Yes but if ever you want an injury that can be disconcertingly vague and keep you out for an indeterminable amount of time, its the back. Look at Clarke.

If i wanted to not play without kicking up a fuss, I'd certainly say I was having back spasms!!

Surely, you don't go off half way through a Boro game at Leeds in front of 36 000 people pretending to have a bad back. Wouldn't you pull up in a training session or at home where there is no one watching?

I'm not saying he went off and faked an injury. I'm saying if the club/player decided he wasn't going to play again until the conclusion of the transfer window, a bad back would be the EXACT injury cover to use.

I doubt very much Carrick would be on board with this given the current injury crisis.
