Formal complaints made against Raab

If formal complaints have been made against him I'm pretty sure there'll have had to be an investigation whether he "requests an investigation" or not 🙄

More embarrassment for our inept, but not quite as inept as the last one, "leader" (in the very loosest sense of the word).

It's a farce. We need a general election. I am sure the calls for this will come after Thursday's statement.

Great timing of this though - just in time for PMQs.

Yeah, looking forward to a thoroughly robust "independent investigation" carried out by a suitably appointed crony. FFS, what a f*cking farce.

That letter will have been written and sent after assurances from Sunak that it will be sorted....nothing to see here etc etc.🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️

Reminds me of the Blackadder courtroom scene where Captain Blackadder is accused of eating Speckled Jim.....General Melchett is the judge and arrives in court with the black cloth already on his head .....

If it's the Cabinet Secretary then as you say, it'll (Simon) case closed.

If he hasn't already investigated it that is. Half the time it turns out he already knows about most of the stuff going on but decided to ignore it. That's a man who knows how to hang onto his job. Utterly spineless.

It's a joke Raab dare ask for an investigation and Sunak has 'granted' his request when an inquiry would happen anyway

exactly, his letter is grandstanding and trying to wrestle control and the language around proceedings. There will already be a grievance process, which will already require independent investigation, which will have already been enacted.

I've only ever put a grievance in once before it was against the MD of a company I worked for 15 years ago. She was a mad blue-blood Tory funding old-money loon, son at Eton, 3 houses etc. I was asked to reconsider withdrawing my grievance because, and I quote "you dont want a sacking on your record". I've dealt with these entitled Tory pricks before, I wouldn't trust any 'independent' inquiry, they will attempt to corrupt it. Mine was run by the husband of the person I had a grievance with, the same one that made a veiled threat about sacking me. Cost them a years wages in the end but you have to be on your toes to beat them.

There are cross bench ex-judges in the House of Lords, Baroness Hallett, for example and they should be the arbiters of cases like these that involve an MP from any Party.

Impartiality, fairness and seeing that all due processes are followed should be the keystones of any investigation of wrongdoing or breaking of Parliamentary Code, I believe by utilising the experience of those that have spent a lifetime in the legal system and have no Party defined allegiance would be by far the best system, use of available resources and remove doubts of coverups and bias.

One of them was investigated in the spring. I think that was when people started taking bodyguards to meetings with him.

John Grace the Guardian sketch writer is scathing about Raab. Goes on about his angry twitch and smashing walls when he finishes in the House. It's clearly well known that he's a nasty piece of work. Same as Williamson.

This is the dog days of this Government. Noone competent wants to be part of it so we are left with this bunch of shysters.

The tax rises and inflation rate should convince most people that this lot don't know what they are doing. But if they last 2 years I expect their worst outcome will be a hung parliament. Unless the Gen Z vote like they just did in the USA. Hard for non right wing parties to get majorities but they can have their wings clipped a little.

I hope Starmer and Davey can agree some way of working together and support tactical voting. It worked under Blair and will be needed I think.

I wonder if he keeps his basement well stocked with live humans. I'm sure he deserves a little something to feed on after a hard day saving the country.

It's alright, any report will be published "in a timely way".

Sticking to their "let's drag our feet and hope this all blows over" approach. 🤦‍♂️

Raab's one and only job when serving under Boris was to go on telly and defend an endless string of indefensible ****-ups, mistakes, gaffes and corruption. After doing that endlessly in an emotionless, deadpan dead behind the eye way - it is no wonder that as soon as the camera is off he was in a terrible mood. Unsurprising then that he seemingly was ready to take his anger at what his life had become out on whoever the next unlucky person was to come across his path.

This one will drag on, the press will keep going on about it, and eventually he will have to resign for a couple of weeks at least, until the next Tory reshuffle when he will reappear magically quicker than you can say "Suella".
