They would need that because they'd be scuppered carrying a 9m wage from one player in the champo.

I fear that they are changing too many players in one go. Think they could sink badly
 
They had to spend, half their team was on loan, some good signings, if they go down I expect most will stay so they might yo-yo a bit.

Ordinarily I'd agree: too many new players is a disruptive thing... however they won promotion with many of their first team as loans so needed to replace them, & then start to build.

£180k a week 'seems' a lot, even for a modern player - international & experienced - however there is no fee, other than signing bonus & agent I guess.. £5m? then £9m - so £14m for a player they'd have no chance of signing if they didn't stump up the £££.. ridiculous, though I can see the potential...
 
Lingard is an odd one, Word cup coming up I would have though West Ham would have been nailed on to get game then and try and get it in the squad.
His wages seem to be putting a lot of clubs off, he’s not that young and not really that proven to demand such high wages.
