For a true neutral picture of the championship promotion race

Specifically, who makes the autos, it's often best not to look at our forums or those of the Blades to avoid bias.
Likewise overlook those at the bottom of the table who will give less of a shiny $hit on average as it has no effect on their own team, other than when they play one of the sides up there.

So I've went trawling through the other competitors for the play off spots and in no particular order I'll start with WEST BROM...

A few agreeing on there that not only are we now almost taking a playoff spot up already at the very least, but that we're overwhelmingly likely for Top 3.
They're also hoping we overtake Sheffield United as they'd fear us much more in the playoffs👍

Now for NORWICH...

Mixed views on there, a few dislike us due to the playoff final, but they do tend to acknowledge from their comments that we've made the playoffs, with some considering us a "shoo-in" for the autos.👍

Interestingly on another thread concerning Aaron Ramsey they call us "The Parmos" 😁

Most people don't understand trends and will just assume what is happening now will continue to happen. They see us winning, they assume it'll continue. Hopefully it will but it's the championship. We (or anyone) can have a terrible or excellent run and everything will change.

Remember last season up until we lost to Chelsea everyone was acting like the playoffs was a foregone conclusion but after we lost our winning record at home we had a terrible run. Hopefully the same will happen to Sheff Utd now and not us!

I'd take anything any fan of any club says with a pinch of salt. Look at the variance on this site about all sorts. There's no consensus on anything very often.

Now onto WATFORD;

Comments on there are pretty positive, they do spend a bit of time mulling over the possibility of playing Luton in the playoffs if they make them, which is understandable, it's like us saying the same about the deckchairs.

Amongst other things there's posts saying they'd be amazed if the 3 sides going up this year weren't Burnley, Blades and us. A post saying whoever finished in the playoffs would get hammered by whoever finished 3rd and it looking like we were good enough to overhaul Sheff. All good stuff👍

Oh and a post asking why the hell they didn't get Archer on loan.

Agree, football forums are just chaos really in terms of views - good entertainment though 👍

I'd agree with you there in the main. Supporters aren't professional pundits.

However, with most of these boards there seems to be a clear trend with most agreeing in one form or another.

Anyway, here's the views of the BLACKBURN faithful;

The views are probably a little less knee-jerk in that whilst they acknowledge that it's still Sheffield United's to lose, the race for second could get interesting.

Unsurprisingly they'd also prefer us to overhaul the side at the top instead😁 but one poster has said he would love to see us pip the Blades due to their shady transfer embargo details alone?

I do fully expect us to get 2 points per game on average.

That is based on our form since October, we also have more home games that away games left (8 home, 6 away?) and unlike last year no FAC games to distract and tire us.

14 games left times 2 = 28pts plus 54pts = 82pts

That normally gets you 3rd or 4th

If we averaged 2.5pts per game that would be 89pts and probably just enough for second, based on SU having a tougher set of games left than they have played so far and still in the Cup.

2.5 points per game is a massive ask and will need all the skill and luck going our way.

We're "only" 2 points better off than we were at this point last season, when we beat West Brom 2-1, we ended up finishing 5 points outside of the play-offs.

There's a long way to go yet, hopefully this time we don't slip up.

Opposition fans have no better insight than we do in to how a season will pan out, plenty on here have been wildly wrong with their predictions about other teams' fortunes, myself included.

That's true.

I wonder what the view of a top manager with an outstanding CV would be on our chances? 🤔
With a LMA award of yesteryear tucked into his kegs too no less, to give more of an "inflated" opinion of himself.

But when it comes to the relevant professionals that would be confusing the word "pundit" with "ar$ewipe".

Anyway I digress. Onto MILLWALL...

Oddly despite sitting 7th in a tight pack with their game/games in hand on everyone around them they seem quite pessimistic of their chances of making the playoffs, they fancy their chances of doing so less than I do tbh.

They acknowledge the work Carrick has done and one fan said he would rather they finished outside the top six and prepared for next season rather than get smashed by Boro or such like in the playoffs?

They do however seem quite fired up for their upcoming game against the Blades, adding in true 'Wall" fashion that ''And they can stick their stainless steel up there ar$e.'

2.3ppg under MC so far, if we maintain that then we’d finish on 86/87 points. It’ll take some doing. Best not to look too far ahead and go one game at a time in total isolation otherwise you get distracted by ifs buts ands and maybes.

Now one of the most interesting. BURNLEY...

Quite a few interesting points in this one, including;

"I’d be a lot more worried if we were Sheff Utd"

"By the time SU have completed their forthcoming tough run of fixtures I expect Boro to be breathing down their neck and poised to overtake them."

Our nickname irritatingly spelt in this one, but comparing us to themselves, which is certainly a compliment given their season thus far;

]Borough play a lot like burnley from what ive seen
Utd play like burnley under dyche last time in championship.
It’s old burnley v new burnley"

Backed up by;

"Thank God Boro haven’t had Carrick all season or things might not be so comfortable
They are so much better than Sheff Utd on this evidence"

All in all a great read👍

Awesome to see how feared we're becoming. We keep this up and absolutely anything is possible. Don't think the mackems will get play offs.

Boro
Luton
Watford
Millwall
