Foo fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins has died!

I'm not a fan of the Foo Fighters music, but I watched their weird horror movie spoof Studio 666 just this week and Hawkins played a prominent part.

Great musicians, but crap actors.

RIP Taylor

Such awful news. He really was such a talented and great guy with a massive personality.

I remember being so in awe of him when I was younger that I searched out for his solo stuff. Very rarely does a drummer have that kind of impact.

RIP.

Was shocked by this news. 50 is no age at all.

Saw him “lead” the foo fighters at Wembley when they had John Paul Jones and Jimmy Page on stage. Grohl said he had to do the drums for rock and roll so asked him to sing. Was quite an epic moment. Hawkins walked back to his drum kit and I don’t know if it was him or Grohl now but one of them says “urgh, singing drummers”

The man had so much energy on stage

I used to love the Foo Fighters but after my last 2 years, and I am now 50.. I think WTF and just enjoy life while you can.. So when I read about people dying at my age it scares the **** out of me!

Likewise turned 50 recently and it seems like a big number.

Try to never waste a day now, life is a very fragile thing.

Shock this...He was a talented drummer - a proper surf head, big personality and well respected.
50 is just no age - left that behind me nearly 12 years ago and grateful for every day since.

RIP dude, take that thunderous drumbeat to the sky

I am devastated by this news.

What freaks me out, is I was talking about Hawkins' past, etc, and his battles with addiction/mental health issues that he went through with my friend last night, and how Grohl poached him through (I think) Alanis Morissette's band in the 90s, changed his life and helped him through a lot of struggles. I've never really been a Foos fan, but when I saw them live it was such a pleasure to see Hawkins play. He was an absolutely superb musician and seemed like such a nice guy.

My friend messaged me at half six this morning 'Taylor Hawkins has died' ... thought he was yanking my chain, then a quick scan of Twitter ... I realised he wasn't messing around and am wounded about it, freaked out a little too obviously.:(

It is a huge loss to the music world. As a musician myself I can understand how much it will have impacted a lot of people right now. I dread to think of how Dave Grohl must feel, or what he is going through right now. He went through a huge loss in '94 with Kurt Cobain, now he's lost another bandmate as special and talented as Kurt was.

Thoughts are with Hawkins' family and the rest of the band. What a sad day for rock and roll. He really was one of the best.

No age at all. I’m not a fan of the foo fighters but have seen the guy in interviews and he always comes across really well. seemed like a nice guy and very very cool.
