FM 23 out to play now - boro manager is vacant

Obviously these are my tactics and they may not work for others. I play this system almost exclusively in the Premier League as my team are much more solid playing it.

In the Championship though I alternated between this, a 4-3-3 and a 4-2-3-1.
 
Why have I just found this thread?!
I finished second in my first season in the championship with o103 points!
First season back in the Prem has been hard, I sit 17th, 3 points clear of Norwich with 5 games left
My transfer activity has left alot to be desired like, struggled to deals in the summer because of work permits, threw a strop and let my DOF do some deals, he spent my entire budget on Rodrigo Muniz (31 goals last season) and Jonjoe Shelvey on a loan with a mandatory fee.

In January seen a loan return for Djed Spence, permanent signing of Ryan Giles, Luis Binks on loan.
Got to the Caraboa Cup final but got beat on Pens!

What a final day of the season I've just had!

Going into the last game I was sat 3rd in the league with Watford and Norwich above me. Boro were on 86, Watford on 89 and Norwich on 87.

We had Coventry who were in a relegation battle, only 1 point above Millwall who were occupying the final relegation place.

An early goal by Akpom settled the nerves and then a red card for Jake Bidwell on the stroke of half-time made things easier, as we sat top of the league with Watford losing and Norwich drawing, both at home I should add.

It took until the 86th minute for Boro to put the game to bed with a stunning Marc Bola shot from outside the box, 2-0 Boro and the last we knew both Watford and Norwich had taken second half leads.

Until, a murmur began to surge around the Riverside that Bristol City had hit a late quick-fire double to turn it around at Vicarage Road, and Watford, who started the day at the top of the table, had blown it and finished the day in 3rd position, having to settle for the play-offs!

Boro are promoted after finishing second, we coped with a lot of injuries to key players, with Hackney, Howson, Watmore and Muniz all ruled out for the season as early as March. A big summer lies ahead!

End of season awards:

Duncan Watmore, Championship POTY with 10 goals and 15 assists in 34 games
Lenihan, Giles, Jones and Muniz all in TOTY, but no Watmore...
I also got MOTY.

I just saw this on Xbox game pass yesterday. Played 2 games and said to my wife, not sure how was addicted to this game when I was younger...... 8 hours later :eek::rolleyes:

Took a while to get used to using a controller but press left stock and just use in mouse mode. I might try hooking up a wireless mouse and keyboard

Is it closer to full game or the touch game
 
I just started season 5 (i WFH a lot) - finished 10th, 6th, and 5th in my Prem seasons. No domestic cup success, but won the Europa cup end of season 4 so champions league beckons.

Fry and Mcgree still cutting it but apart from that squad is now completely different. As always south American and Eastern European leagues are the go to place for value in the transfer market. Despite 3 top half finishes and some notable transfer fees recieved my wage budget is in the bottom 5 and I "only" get 30 -50 mil to spend each summer.

Gibbo has sold up mind, and his idiot replacement has decided to build a 55k new stadium at a cost of 125 mil!!! Dunno where those extra fans are coming from!!!!!!!!
 
I went on a storming 10 game winning streak and now just lost to all bottom 3 teams. Wtf

Gibbo still in place in mine although we're looking for sites for a new stadium. Seems odd when the other one is only 30 years old.

I actually finished 5th first season in the EPL and somehow qualified for UCL. Temptation to spend big was too much and I practically overhauled my entire squad. Unfortunately, the results have been far from impressive!
 
I’ve had a crap start to my first season in the PL, I think I’ve overdone it (again) with the summer transfers and replaced about 70% of my team!

Anyone have any tips on how to be more defensive, I’m conceding goals for gun despite playing two CDMs…
 
Little bit unrelated but after 20+ seasons on FM22 of sheer dominance and back to back CL wins etc I was given the news that a new stadium was going to be built.

I excitedly/stupidly assumed they might name it after their now legendary manager only to get a memo saying:

"Middlesbrough unveil plans for new 50k seater stadium: The Colin Cooper Arena"

Ended up a bit deflated to say the least....
