Flights arriving daily in to the UK with zero checks

I guy I work with has recently moved form the US to the UK just after New Year, and his flight landed in Heathrow with all of the required paperwork filled in on where he was going and where he was going to quarantine, which sounds great.

However, he was then allowed to get on a train from London to Birmingham then a taxi to his new house, where he has proceeded to quarantine for 2 weeks. At no point has anyone physically come to check on him or even called or contacted him in anyway whatsoever.

He contacted our HR group to ask what he should do when the 2 weeks was up and who he should contact etc, and no one knew, and the advice was just to come to work.

Shambles.

Including from South African and Brazil

How can this madness be allowed to continue.

what’s the point in putting all these draconian stops to our daily life in place only to allow more and more foreign pathogens with little to no checks in place.
Indeed - and this could have been posted at any time since March last year.

I'm at a hotel at Heathrow now. Mainly folk on our Charter flight to Egypt here. The odd other traveller.

Heathrow very very quiet.

I quarantine when I come back. I used the test to release option last time. £120 for the test to be posted out to arrive on 5th day at home. That turned up a day late, then took another day to get the results. I'll be using the drive in at NCL airport next time. I fly into and out of Gatwick, the border force seem stricter than Heathrows. There are certain people required to travel. Vendors for technical equipment are a must.
