First of the year?

My mates wife is well into Christmas and it gets earlier every year, talking full size nutcracker models and about 5 Christmas trees. She's putting them up tomorrow much to his irritation.

I can't see the point, I love Christmas personally but it just cheapens it.

My wife is similar (think we'll have 5 Christmas trees this year, and spent a small fortune in John Lewis at the weekend buying new decorations for the extra two we'll have this year). However we have a strict rule that they go up after we return from our Thanksgiving trip every year, and not before - having said that the Elf on a shelf has been up for two weeks "keeping watch" although I'm not sure it's really had the effect we'd hoped for.
