Moving house this week, always just had sky or virgin, with rising energy bills I’m thinking now might be the the time to get rid of sky and get a firestick.

Can someone provide me with a ‘dummy’s’ guide on them.

What’s good / not so good etc.

The kids mostly watch YouTube and net flix, me and the Mrs - Netflix and normal TV. Me - sky sports.

Anyone who’s got one happy to share their knowledge?

on mine, just got other month. it has 3 sections. movies, live tv and series.

thousands of movies, just watched topgun maverick on it. hd quality.

loads of series for the missus to watch.

live tv has all sky sports bt sports and ifollow channels for clubs. plus loads of foreign sports channels and regular channels. all box office stuff. i watched aj fight on it.

only problem i found was the live sports can sometimes be not the best, especially ifollow. but usually if you switch to other clubs its okay lol.

97 adult channels so invest in a big box of tissues.

On a serious note, thanks for the reply and I for mate, looks like that’s the route I’ll go down.

sublime?

I just use firesticks around the house.
Installed the apps that we watch, ie BBC Iplayer, netflix etc.
Ive got a decent IP provider with upto 4 connections. Been using them for about 4 years and never had any real problems.

Next step for me will be to remove Netflix when they introduce adverts. At the moment Netflix is relatively cheap but convenient to use.

Does it need someone to install it / set it up?

Thought it was just a plug in and go type thing.
If you’re talking about an IPTV (ifollow, streams etc) then you’ll need someone to give you an account, usually done over whatsapp or some other chat app.

If you just want to use it for Netflix, Disney+, Amazon, etc then yeah just plug in and go.

Can anyone who has an IPTV set up confirm the majority of our home matches are always on there?

I work with a guy who raves about all the 3pm kick offs of every club always been there but I’ve been reluctant to purchase thus far knowing we as a club don’t have ifollow so all our matches might not be as readily available as that’s the only reason I would be purchasing.

Thanks

We do have iFollow, it's just not called that and our matches are as available as the others.

Does it matter who your Internet broadband provider is eg virgin/sky etc in that, do you get monitored/ have to use VPN etc to ‘hide’ your usage? Sorry, I’m incredibly uneducated on these matters and wouldn’t want to bring the legal eagles to my door SHOULD I decide to go this route. (The cost of virgin tv is ludicrous - pay £70 for tv and bband currently but it’s going to £140 from October - can’t and won’t pay that! Would like to keep their bband for working from home though).

The broadband provider shouldn't matter as long as they are giving you a decent speed Some will have a system to try and block via a filter but they can be turned off and vary depending who it is but the provider will have a guide to switch them off. In answer to the VPN part, one is not needed unless blocks kick in which won't happen if your provider has a good system in place, but most will recommend using one as you say to hide the usage.
