FINLAND - WHY IT >is < THE HAPPIEST IN THE WORLD

When they do these happiness measures I don't think its just a survey that asks you to self describe your happiness. Its stuff like how much crime per capita a country has, how much autonomy people have at work, how much disposable income you'd be left with if you take average rent away from average salary.

I think that's been overstated. Don't really know why. Just a shorthand for comedians or something perhaps - a bit like how our town often ends up being an easy punchline to a joke 🤦‍♂️

This list has them on fewer suicides per capita than the USA or Belgium.
How can you produce some of the world’s greatest beers and be unhappy? I love Belgium.

...................and it is not the food".

OKAAAAY

Then proceeded to write about almost nothing but the food ( shaved deer heart indeed - which actually sounds lovely ).

So that's the secret - give the people a lovely view and some hearty grub - job done.

So eating a pamro outside of the kings head looking into rosberry topping?

I like the look of Scandinavia. Well, the bits I’ve seen on TV anyway. I knew a bloke who spent a lot of time in Finland, when I asked him what it was like he said it was stunning. He also mentioned that the people were really friendly and there was more of a sense of community, he had lots of Finnish friends, what struck him about them is that they all seemed to care deeply about how they treated each other, there was a sense that the society was more cohesive and that people seemed to have a collective responsibility for each other. He talked about the fact that people were more open to talking about problems, that people didn’t tolerate ‘poor behaviour’ and that there was a sense of freedom, but that freedom could be exercised but that if your actions negatively impacted on others you had to answer for it. That people didn’t watch from behind their curtains while you caused trouble and that they’d stick up for each other. That said, that was one bloke’s observation on Finland.
What strikes me when I see Scandinavian politicians is that they act and talk like grown ups. There may of course be exceptions.

It's probably down to them being riotously drunk most of the time. And they spend most of their spare time finding new and entertaining ways to blow things up.

Known a few, and met a lot more. Love ‘em. Mostly brilliantly mad.
When I lived in Sweden, some friends started a little basement club for young’ uns who had nowhere to hang out. One Friday night music blaring away and some Raggare ( look like bikers but their thing is old American cars and 50’s rock n roll ) tried to crash it. Two Finnish brothers, both very good boxers helped run it.
They stood at the door dropping these guys like flies….the Finns do like a good fight 😉

It’s dark half the year. I reckon they will be all miserable in the deepest winter.

Mind you their Eurovision entry this year is a banger.
They aren't from what I have seen. Bene there twice in the winter and they always seem in good spirits
