Finances and Ticket Prices

Not that I agree with the price hike, but if you look at it from a business perspective, we live in one of the worst places in the UK. Attracting top end talent comes at a cost. Gibbo is paying over the odds in wages to get people into the club.

Just wondering if anyone has looked at it from that angle, I’m sure we have one of the top wage bills bar the relegated clubs.

So I think to stay as ambitious as he can, it comes at a cost, although I do question the finances at the min, as I don’t think he’s giving carrick much of a chance to succeed.

Time will tell but that’s my thoughts on the recent price hike ??

That will be one of the factors. Just like the club will know we have a core fanbase I.e those who have had STs for over say 5 years and therefore likelihood of renewing is say over 80% irrespective of price of the ticket. Say we have 12,000 fans in that core and the average price is £500 that is £6m for the club.

Not been critical but Kieffer Moore is at least £30k/week over a year thats over £1.5m on just one player plus any fees

Carvalho at Hull £52k/week over a year thats £2.6m

The £500 included 20% VAT most of which the club can't claim back, because they don't spend a lot on VAT.

I doubt £500 is our average price too as around 50% of STs are concessions - more like £375 - £400.

The economics of the Championship are brutal, without parachute payments.

We dont live in one of the worst places in the UK, we may live in one of the most impoverished and there are bad areas of course, but to suggest that we have to pay players more because they're having to live in somewhere akin to 1970's New York City is just daft.

Where most of the players live will rank in some of the best, and cheapest areas in the country, and so to suggest that Coventry, Preston or Rotherham are paying less because players are choosing them over us is just silly.

It was more to do with the short deadline that has now been extended. The fact that your having to pay up front as the monthly finance plan has a 40 quid fee on top. This should be free! Alot of other clubs offer 0% finance deals on season tickets why is it so difficult for us to offer. I also think it s better for the club to get payments spread out across the season not all in bulk in March

Footballers are ALL overpaid - up front.. I think the PL clubs pushing deals ever higher is causing a split in the English football pyramid..

Eventually we may have the two tier chasm that Freddy Shepherd forecast decades ago..

Several, Shearer included, ex-playets we're on MoTD weeks ago saying how Financial Fair Play should be canned & 'free market' allowed to run wild.. that would be great for the oiled up & franchised clubs but the rest would not be able to compete on contracts & squads.. it would ruin the game.. however it could also enable the rest to reinvent, esp if the Gov taxed the life out of the parasitic splitters..

Football needs to get real, it's losing its base, fans are not customers.. players are not the game, clubs & communities are..

I think you have to look at the fans and their incomes, not players.

Overall incomes and wealth is relatively low on Teesside - my guess is wealth is about 2/3rd of the national average and incomes about 5 to 10% lower. However on disposable income Teesside is probably above the National average, because young couples are not taking out £500k mortgages or paying £2,500 a month in rent.

So you’re trying to justify a price increase by saying we live in a $hit hole so have to pay more to overpaid pre Madonna’s

You are Steve Gibson and I claim my £10

I know I’m in a minority but i think our season ticket pricing is not that bad for adults - i think the kids and family tickets should be cheaper but the increase in prices for next season is a relatively small one. Not many things in life come down in price unfortunately.

I still don’t quite understand how the average ticket income per customer is £12.50.

Unless we have an unbelievably high percentage of kids and carers for disabled fans - and since walkup tickets are 30 odd quid, I’m talking two carers per every full paying fan.
