Fed up?

The good thing about Spanish is that there are not that many words that are pronounced differently from the way they are spelt. Generally every letter has a standard way of being pronounced. Also where to place the stress on words is helped by special versions of characters e. g é.

If you are typing a lot in Spanish it might be worth getting a Spanish keyboard and setting up Spanish on your laptop/PC. I have used a Spanish keyboard for years now. So I would struggle with an English one.

It is relatively easy to switch between keyboards/languages on a PC.

I've actually gone 'old school' and I'm taking notes in an A4 pad, and WRITING!!

(How sad that I'm actually enjoying writing again)!!! :) :)

The Michel Thomas course is brilliant. When I lived out there it got me from hopeless to competent in a week. I think it may be free online in places.
I tried his Italian one a few years ago. I had a few of his CDs I really enjoyed it and you do remember more than you think.

I used to go and study at a residential school just outside Valencia once or twice a year, then have a week in Vlencia itself and find a couple of intercambios to practice in while I was there. School changed owners a couple of years ago and wasn't as good so I stopped. I've taken out my old study notes and use the Memrise app. I also have some speech classes that pop up randomly in iTunes or Google Play.
I quite like the idea of a Spanish thread, though my written Spanish is further gone than my spoken.

Back on topic, don't think of social distancing as a form of punishment, think of it as doing your bit for the greater good.
There are many brave souls who face this virus head-on, day in day out for the good of the nation. By staying at home, cutting the mechanisms of infection, you are making their life so much safer and eventually a lot easier as you are part of a national effort to beat it. By staying at home you are helping to make sure that those who need treatment have a space waiting for them.
We will get this under control, we will get back to some sort of normal soon enough, we will be able to appreciate the company of others, be able to hug someone, anyone and not worry about the consequences.
It might not seem very heroic when you see what our NHS staff are doing, but it is a silent heroism that makes a massive difference.
Keep your resolve, tell yourself everyday that you are part of the solution and say a little thank you to everyone fighting this fight.

I think that's a massive part of the unknown emotion I was referring to. The fact you're doing something to help, we're all doing something to help, by doing nothing.

One positive that has come out of this has been that I've been quite creative and written several new songs.

Just uploaded the latest one to Soundcloud, so if you're really bored feel free to have a listen ;)

Excuse the vocals and guitar playing, usually I have my mate to accompany me.

New song

pamboboy, I told my son he's grounded at the beginning of the lockdown, mind he's 23, he just stays in the house doing his music, he's also on Soundcloud(y)

It's a great pastime and the lockdown has given me a good opportunity to write new material.

Usually my mate comes round my house and we have a jam but obviously it's going to be a while before we can get together again.

At least I'll be able to play him loads of new stuff in the future.
