Favourite Depeche Mode song

Personal Jesus is godlike though I loved a guitar instrumental Martin played at the beginning of a gig in Paris I saw many moons ago, never found out what it was called

On a similar vein I love this.
Probably my favourite piece of classical music (moonlight sonata).

Music for the masses and Violator have so many great songs it’s hard to nail down one which really stands out. I’m kind of swayed by DMs music videos especially with Halo, where both versions are fun and great to listen to.

Oh god, there's loads.

As a kid it was "Get The Balance Right" as my mam used to play it all the time when doing the housework.

Became a "proper" DM fan in my late teens after discovering 101 (what an album). Fell in love with "Somebody" (such a beautiful track) and "Blasphemous Rumours" but I think my favourite song is "Enjoy The Silence"

Specifically, the 2004 Mike Shinoda remix (Linkin Park used to play this live too, which was fantastic)

Enjoy the silence for me. I saw the Violator tour in 1990 at Birmingham. Absolutely brilliant. Everything counts, Home, Walking in my shoes are up there among others.

Great to see so many varied answers and so many fans, growing up in Darlington in the mid 80s I felt like the only Depeche Mode fan. Really got into them with 81-85 singles collection which I must have bought four or five times in different formats, from the early days my favourite was See You, then post Vince Somebody and Blasphemous Rumours.

Played Black Celebration to death when I was in sixth form and first saw them
on the Music for The Masses Tour, the fantastic 101 live album comes from that period, from there I would point to Something To Do as a classic.

As I earlier posted overall favourite is Personal Jesus, but Violator as an album is an absolute masterpiece, Enjoy The Silence is epic and also love Policy of Truth

I Feel You from Dave’s drug days has grown on me and Walking In My Shoes says so much about that time, Ultra as an album is often ignored.

Their more recent stuff, past 20 years (!) also posts classics for me like Precious and Wrong and absolutely adore the latest album, especially Ghosts….
