Favourite butter?

I decided to make some butter back end of last year as we had some double cream in the fridge which needed using up, so I made some butter and blended it with extra virgin olive oil, herbs and garlic and put it in the fridge to set(I was planning to cut it into cubes for cooking and freezing the cubes) anyway my step son came home from school and saw it in the fridge when he was making toast and thought the butter had gone mouldy so he binned it. The most annoying part is I think that is the first time he has ever put any food waste in the bin normally he will leave a little dribble of milk at the bottom of the bottle so he doesn't have to put it in the bin 😂.

Eddie Abbew reckons you should ONLy eat 100% butter - not the spreadable versions that have quite a bit of God knows what in them - to make them soft.

Who knows - I like the President salted

Butter is better for you than marg imo, although neither are particularly healthy. That said I'll take the butter every day of the week given the choice.

We have a butter bell, you fill it with butter and pack it in, then put it upside down into the bottom part of the chamber, which you put water and a pinch of salt in. This seals it off from the open air, and allows you to keep butter at room temperature safely, rather than trying to spread a house brick from the fridge.

It's still a bit tough to spread in winter, but great at all other times.

We buy either butter from a farm shop, make our own or if we buy we buy the Asda West Country salted butter. We actually prefer that to the farm butter.

I believe marg came about because we decided non saturated fats were better than saturated fats found in dairy products - but then marg was found to have loads of trans fats in it. I also read that it doesnt really go off if left out

The key difference between the two though is that marg and fake butter all taste like sh*te compared to butter.

That sounds interesting, do you have a link to the product or one similar?

They're all over Amazon but they're quite pricy, I reckon there are probably cheaper ones about but mine was a present off the girlfriend as I do all the cooking and had said I was sick of using lurpak spreadable, which she always bought.

Just search for butter bell and get an appropriate sized one - TikTok has a load of videos showing them in use too

Will do :)

President is the King. Its blended with cream instead of oils so still fully dairy. That means its still spreadable throughout the winter in my 11 degree kitchen. But , there is a small problem . It does not stick to the knife or implement you use to extract it from its presentation box. I tend to need two hands , one to scrape from the tub and one to protect the morsel once its on the knife before it slides off before it makes my intended destination Plus another huge point, now listen in this is important, spreading on hot toast , it does not melt like regular butter , because of the cream , so you dont get that luscious melting on toast from pure butter. I know its a shame, but at least you can spread it. Before I found president I would use normal butter but in winter would slice off a portion with a crow bar and a sledge hammer and then put it in the microwave to soften but its a dark art and many times would end up with a pool of molten butter lava vs what I wanted which was spreadable butter.
