The Beano over Dandy for me growing up, also used to read Buster.

Buster ended publication in 2000, while The Beano is amazingly still available as a print edition.

Always read the Beano, Warlord , and Battle.
Grandson still reads the Beano, middle one is just startin to as well.
Another favorite from the 70's was Action until they withdrew it before it was banned.
Did not bother withit when it came back in its toned down form.
Always remember the McNally the Rig boss exploding in blood when bitten by Hook Jaw the Great White Shark.

Early 'Valiant': Legge's Eleven.

Radical football manager Ted Legge. One of his ideas was to put 10 men around the ball and walk down the pitch like a maul in rugby. not sure if it's legal but might work.

The Wolf of Kabul, mentioned above. A British army officer under cover in Afghan. His sidekick was a Pathan tribesman whose weapon of choice was 'clicky bah'. A cricket bat.

Another of my favourites from Tiger & Scorcher was "Billy's Boots".
In the 70s I convinced myself that my magical new Patrick boots from Jack Hatfield would give me similar footballing super-powers. Unfortunately it turned out they must have been cursed by a football hating witch.

Preferred Dandy to Beano but read whatever was available.

Older brother started buying Spike when that came out in the 80s and then got merged with Champ. Some great stories in them, including:

Wilson - the Man in Black
Desert Fury
Pendragon

Read Victor and Hotspur as annuals.

Started picking up Commando and similar and have a bunch of them lying around.

Buy a ton of old titles from the 2000AD store and have a load of Kickstarter titles that still need reading...

Just looked up the 1st issue if Deadline and they are going for £500. I was find of Flaming Carrot and Hugo Tate as well as Tank Girl obviously.

Started again with Beano and Dandy then on to Viz. Always found the letters page hilarious

Sounds similar to me! I was bought a Viz hardback book for Christmas. buster gonad was my favourite character, because I had a hernia and my balls were huge, all be it with my intestines in there

VIZ had something about a Spunky Moped as well but I can't remember it now

Mickey and his monkey spunk moped..

I think he traded it in for something that ran on leopard’s fanny batter.

Born 1957 ... Beano from 6 ... moved onto Wizard ...8 .. and from 9 Bought american DC superhero mags at 1/ week till I was 12 ... so from 1969 till 1972, Superman , Green Lantern and Atom Ant were the go to titles I collected 150 ish . All were in great condition stored in a placy box in my mums loft .... Cleared her house out September last year and the fkrs have gone. there have been various tradesmen scuttling about over the last 40 years so who knows?
