Fastest UK 800m since 1990

I've known him and his family since he was 8 years old. He always had serious talent but you could never have predicted he'd be this good until maybe his ealry teens when he started setting world age best times. He's european junior record holder and won the european title at 18. You get no idea watching this just how devastatingly quick he is. When you see him on the track in training he covers the ground at what seem impossible speeds. Decent sprinters would be flat to the boards to stay with his pace.

Only got into running myself last few years, recreational runner obviously, but when I watch elite level runners go, it always strikes me how they cover the ground so fast while looking like they are jogging, how the hell do they do it?!

I remember those nights watching Coe and Ovett on the European circuit. It felt like one of them broke a world record everytime they set foot on a track.

For decades British middle distance running has had a hangover from those heady days. This lad, along with Keeley Hodgkinson and some of Max's contemporaries (Ben Pattison and Oliver Dustin) are getting us all giddy again.

Who remembers doing the 400m in P.E at school. Everyone used to belt off with a full blown sprint at the start and by the time we got to the final 150m, most of us where literally walking and blowing out of our ar$es 😁
I used to do the 400m at school and was told by a coach that it's the hardest track event. The reason being you need to run at almost 90% of your fastest sprint pace for a whole lap.
