FAO: Newy

Ultimately, I think newy is an advocate of innocent until proven guilty, forgiveness and an opponent of 'pitchfork culture'. I wouldn't say everything he says on the subject chimes with my own views, but as you say, we need balance otherwise it is just a load of angry folk demanding that certain people are banned from football stadiums forever for what may have been moments of madness. In general, I think his outlook is quite palatable. Everyone needs to calm down on the internet sometimes, though I know that possibly applies to newy himself based on the thread about the woman and the monkey gesture.
That thread got out of hand quicky.
Newy's first initial point was totally fair, which was to wait for the investigation before abusing her on the internet. He took a lot of unwarranted abuse on that thread. The problem was he then lost sight of his own point and started getting sidetracked with a bit of ridiculousness.

Newy is a valued member of the board for lots of reasons and would be a massive loss if he didn't come back.

I think you're right. Newy has a very 'creative' mind and sometimes, when sticking to his guns, he can take things down a quirky path not many people fully understand, and things start to be minsinterpreted.

I'm having to write my own endless lists of players out, there is a knock on effect to his absence ya know. I'm not sure if I can get through this, open the doors HAL.

I think I'll miss his team selections the most.

He had VDB dropped and Engel at CB in one recently. That tickled me.

I deleted that post as you were typing your reply because I thought it’s unfair if he’s not around to have right of reply, and also it appears harsher in writing than it was meant (which is so often the case)
Also, don’t know what kind of mental state people are in. He could be in bits following his naughty step time, I mean he puts a lot of time and effort into this place.
I take your points onboard though. That said, some of the things he’s defended previously on here are indefensible, particularly the Zouma stuff, and when he starts throwing ‘faux outrage’ around and criticis8ng people for being legitimately offended, well that’s just nuts. He doesn’t get to decide what people are allowed to find offensive. Ultimately, if he’s going to defend the indefensible or downplay that kind of stuff, then he’s big enough to take it when people call him out vehemently disagree with him.
Anyway, didn’t want to derail the ‘comeback Newy’ thread, which is partly why I thought better of my original post and deleted it within minutes. Obviously I wasn’t quick enough.
Ah sorry. didn't realise.

I didn't actually know he defended Zouma! For me that was far more clear cut than most. That said, West Ham, its staff, players and fans all seem to have forgiven him, which I think is pretty shameful.
