FA CUP improvements

A light hearted thread in this era of uncertainty.

what can we do to improve the excitement of the FA cup? It was once the show piece of the season, I spend all morning watching interviews and fun things both teams were doing. Now it seemingly gets in the way of other competitions.

1. Bring back the FA cup final song for both teams
2. Winner gets a champions league playoff place (to be played over two legs against 4th spot finishers)
3. To be the final game of the season again.
4. FA cup semis to be played at villa park, old Trafford amongst others
5. Increase prize money ( would need a massive sponsor)

any other suggestions?

Coverage of the final on BBC 1. Starts in the morning. Shows teams eating breakfast.
helicopter cam, teams making there way to Wembley or ideally a new national stadium in the middle of the country.

It was special because it was the only club game you’d have to watch live all season, now there’s so much live football it becomes just another game.

2,3,4 and the saturday thing at 3pm with only 2 live matches per round.
I'd give 4th spot to the FA Cup winners anyway, never mind the play off with 4th. That would mean all the top teams play their strongest teams.
The money incentive thing is covered by the CL spot

Whilst a CL place might encourage the top teams to play their strongest sides wouldn’t that discourage the ‘lesser’ teams to play weakened teams as happens in the Premier League now ?

The FA to stop listening to Premier League clubs and managers would be a a starting point.

3pm kick offs., replays and no rounds to be played mid-week.

All third round games to be played on mudbath pitches.

At least 4 players in each team to have a bad tash and/or collar length hair.

Ponytails and other hair restraining items to be banned, all hair must be free flowing.

Shorts to be no lower than 1 inch below of the level of the wearer's lowest genital.

Starting 11 to wear shirts with numbers 1-11.

2 & 3 are mutually exclusive.

If the final is the last game of the season (which it shouldn't be because of European Cup final) then you can't have a playoff for 4th Champs league spot.

I also think a play-off & Champs league place, rather than securing the place of the FA Cup, would actually just cement it as a secondary competition & the stepping stone to something better rather than the end in itself.

In the last 10 years the FA Cup has been won by the team in 4th or better 5 times, 5th 3 times & 6th once. A champions league spot for winning the Fa Cup isn't going to drastically shake up the order at the top of the league.

The outlier of course is Wigan who got relegated the same year they won it. The following year, they finished bottom of their group in the Europa Group Stage, Arsenal the 4th place finisher got to the last 16.
