F1 and Lewis

Still generally getting hammered by Russell in Quali and beaten by him on a Sunday (esp if you add in the race Russell was disqualified from the win).

IMO he's going to get his a*se handed to him by LeClerc next season.

I actually think Lewis is showing he’s in decline. No shame in that given his age . Think he’s finding it harder to remain consistent

I don’t think Lewis will beat LeClerc next season, he deffo looks on the decline to me, but not as much as some are saying.

I was thinking today watching the race why didn’t Red Bull bin off Perez half way through the season, he’s been a total failure this year. Would have liked to see Carlos join RB - I think he’s been hard done to by Ferrari. I don’t think Lewis does much better than him TBH.

Already looking forward to next season - this season has been an exciting one.

Think red bull have a lack of a decent alternative so are probably sticking with Perez for his money alone. Don’t think a constructors means the same to them as a McLaren or Ferrari.
I am shocked Tsunoda hasn’t had a go but they clearly have no plans to put him in the seat sadly

Definitely agree with this, his race pace is still there but qualifying is shocking at the moment.
Russell has had the edge on him all season and I expect leclerc to do the same next year. I would love to be wrong but I just can’t see it

If Lewis hadn’t made that mistake during quali he’d have won easily today in my opinion. He was by far the quickest driver today. We’ll never know of course because we don’t know how much extra pace George had in reserve, and how much faster he could have gone with a serious challenge.
If Ferrari have a car capable of winning races next year Lewis will win his fair share. Think he’s gunna surprise a lot of the people writing him off.

If the 2nd half of this season is anything to go by 2025 could be the most exciting season ever. At least 6 drivers capable of winning races and challenging for the WDC.

But he did make the mistake…which is the point about consistency

Fair, but next season could give him fresh impetus. New team, new challenge. Should light a fire under him. He has looked very unmotivated at times this season. Whether that’s him mentally checked out, or feeling unvalued by Mercedes.
Not saying he’ll win the world championship, but he’ll be in contention. Will be an interesting partnership with Charles, who I personally think is the out and out quickest driver in F1. But speed isn’t everything, as Lando has proved, race craft, mentality and killer instinct are just as important. Which hopefully Charles can learn from Lewis. I truly believe Lewis would have won this years WDC in that McLaren. As quick as I think Lando is, he let Max off the hook at lot and made a few silly mistakes. Austria and Texas spring to mind.
As unpopular a decision as it would have been with the team and fans, do you honestly think Lewis would have given up the win in Hungary with a title at stake?

I’m personally unbelievably excited about 2025. All 4 top teams should be pretty similarly paced, next years cars are an evolution of this year so there shouldn’t be too drastic a change there. So it’ll be the drivers that make the difference.
Lewis has something to prove and will surprise a few. Charles on his day is arguably the quickest driver on the grid. Max is Max. Unbelievably quick, but has proved many times this season he hasn’t got the mentality to go wheel to wheel racing and is sometimes outright dangerous.
Hopefully Lando can learn from this years mistakes. Oscar dropped off a bit towards the end of the season but had enough moments to prove he’ll be a threat.
George is solid more than spectacular but will be in the mix. The wild card is gunna be Kimi Antonelli. Have a feeling he’ll have moments of looking spectacular in quali and during some races, and will ruffle some feathers similar to Max did when he burst on to the scene, but his inexperience will catch up with him.

As a Brit it’s gunna be amazing having 3 drivers capable of winning races.

Tbf listening to Carlos and Charles yesterday on the radio to their engineers, i wonder if Lewis is regretting his decision.

For years the Ferrari strategy team and race engineers just seen miles behind the other top teams.

I think a lack of motivation is playing a part due to how uncompetitive the car is, put him in a competitive car and you might well see him find his spark and push the limits again. For most of the season he’s just gone through the motions as who really cares if your 5th or 8th.

The Ferrari tactics are the biggest worry for me. Can see a lot of wins being thrown away through sheer incompetence.
Yesterdays error with Carlos should have resulted in a penalty.
