Every sky game

There’s probably something in that. And in how the club was treated in 1986. And when we tried to compete with the established clubs in the mid-90s, how we were spoken of by the London-based print media etc.
Yeah, the 86 thing and points deductions are no longer unique to us though. Loads of clubs have been through either or both now. They will pretty much unanimously feel hard done by about it as well, I imagine.

Yep, lots of people can’t see that to everyone else we’re just any other team.

I think maybe the 3 points debacle has made a lot of our fans very tetchy about authority and/or how we are “treated” by the football community. Maybe after another 26 years they’ll let it slide. 😂

I will never forget the morning we arrived in Eindhoven, we were one of the first on the square at daybreak having travelled overnight. We were chatting to a bloke who was absolutely boiling with rage at how the area Sevilla fans had been allocated in the city was so much better than ours and it was a disgrace “what they had and what we had”. He seriously needed to chill.
Not just the 3 points but how the red tops in particular reacted to the signings of Juninho, Ravanelli etc. Followed by the gloating when it fell apart.

Those weren't imagined sleights. There was a consistent and sustained theme of running the town down along the lines of "isn't it ridiculous players like that are moving to a dump like Middlesbrough".

I think that's stuck with a little of people and probably has a lot to do with the "Teesside chip (on the shoulder)".

Agree, I don't see any bias now. But some people have long memories!

Yes I agree, and I was a teenager at the time. But it does surprise me that people have ever paid any attention to the rubbish spouted in the red tops, about anything.

If you look on social media after most matches on tv, each set of fans seem to generally think the commentators and referee have been biased against them. Us football fans are very precious.

The commentary last night did seem a little one sided, especially when talking about the atmosphere... all i could hear was the boro fans.

It was a targeted campaign

Look at the infamous Kate battersby article in the standard.

So sunlun getting a current sunlun player to talk about sunlun for 30 mins is the norm is it that happens every week to every club.

I must have missed the dael fry commentating on our game for 30 mins.

It’s perceived nothing it’s blatant bias.

A blind man on a galloping horse at midnight could have seen how much better we were than Luton last night.
I'm angry we didn't turn them over, but delighted about our prospects in the play offs.
I thought Luton were very poor.

Let's also have it right about "the Kenny". There is as much atmosphere as I drive past the Darlington arena these days. Poxy club.

But why would they be biased against us and not Sunderland? Both clubs from the industrial north east etc. Neither will have enormous contingencies of fans in the Sky offices.

I don't think the commentators were biased last night, Edwards called the penalty a dive.

What I did think was funny though was them talking about what a great atmosphere Kenilworth has with the Boro fans chanting 'we'll sing on our own' a couple of minutes before.

I do find it odd the way a certain portion of Boro fans have this chip on shoulder mentality. Why do you care if a commentator has played for the club we're playing? Why do you even care if he's biased towards the other team? What difference does it make? Why do you crave that outsiders like us? It's all a little embarrassing really

To be honest it wasn't the fact he was a Sunderland player that irked me it was the fact he could barely string a sentence together that was the problem. If he came on and was insightful into the game it may have been interesting but he was truly awful and out of his depth.

That sky game where they had the kids doing the alternative commentary was better.

Yeah the only real complaint last night was them mentioning the "atmosphere" when 90% of the singing and noise was Boro fans.

I can't say I know much about Luton (other than the patronage of one Eric Morecambe and their featuring in several of his jokes) the ground is a real throwback. I couldn't work out what the commentators were on about with the new ground? Is it under construction or what? Or are they planning to redevelop the current mish mash of relics?

When I'm watching Boro on TV I pretty much expect a whole night of bilge.. Sky's general EFL coverage is good, if their pundits are a bit meh..
