Everton oil protest - I never knew a steward used a fans knife

I know it was previously posted regarding the protestor who tie-wrapped himself to the Everton goalpost and I even joked at the time that they should have asked an Everton fan for a Stanley Knife but I didn't realise that a fan did give them a knife to cut him free from the post.

Surely, the fan with the knife will have been arrested and charged for being in possession of a knife.

It is just mad that he thinks it is OK to attend a game with a knife and that he can offer it to a steward and nothing will be said.

Depends on the knife, if it was less than 3 inches long and a foldable blade (like a Swiss Army knife etc) it would have been legal to carry.

Just googled it - Has to be non lockable as well.

Thats true, but if the place you are going to has separate rules about carrying knives, then it isn’t ok, or that is my understanding and football grounds at one time banned all knives, I doubt they ever rescinded that rule.
