Everton get permission to build new ground

Access for 52,000 could be an issue looking at the drawing. Water stops access from one side and there is a major road running on another side.
It's taken four years to develop a transportation strategy to ensure that 52,000 people could be transported to and from the stadium safely before the planning application was even submitted. It includes sustainable transport, a fan waiting area at the nearest railway station, walking routes, and also disabled supporters communities were consulted. It will be fine.

I still think both clubs should have built a shared mega stadium in Stanley Park . Would have been uncomfortable at first but after a couple of seasons they’d be used to it .
All the recollections/nostalgia would be eliminated in 2 or so generations . How many on here vividly remember AP ? I’d hazard a guess at 70% and that’s one generation . Your history can’t be gone as long as you have your trophy room .

To compete with European competition as that’s where the game is heading for league football you need a mega stadium .

Goodison is a bit of a hole to be fair. But on the flip side I’ve no idea how a club like Everton, who never win anything and never get in the Champions League, can justify £500m on a ground. It will probably cripple them financially (like Arsenal’s) whilst at the same time raise fans’ expectations about where they should “expect” to be.
