Errea back next year?

I keep hearing that Errea are coming back next year to make our kits. Either Errea or Adidas but apparently a lot of local businesses who provide kits to grass roots teams are pushing errea stock for next season which seems to make sense if they are going to be back in the area. As a bit of a shirt collector this saddens me, Errea quality of the 90's was always shocking, its almost impossible to pick up a 90's shirt without a pull here and there due to the material. Also it would link us more to Derby!!

I feel Hummel have been our best sponor for quality and designs, I believe there is a major issue regarding delivery times with Hummel hence why clubs are parting ways with them.

I remember when Adidas was announced some years back I was over the moon to get the three stripes but then realised how dull the designs where and how you'd often bump into teams with the same design because Adidas only have a few templates, madness really considering the size of the brand!

I've heard this too. Hope not though. Didn't mind some of the designs and we've had some real cult kits from them (green dickens to name one) but I'd love to see us move on elsewhere. Umbro have been quality in recent years, and I'd personally love to see what they could do with boro.

Granted some of the Errea kits especially of the 90's have amazing designs but they also hold a lot of nostalgia for people and I do believe the clubs had more free reign over designs as opposed to picking from templates. Im not sure what the quality is like these days though. I always wondered why we used Errea in the 90's, I did hear a rumour that Gibbo had shares in them which was obviously rubbish! I personally liked the material from Black Away from 2000/2001.

When you're charging circa £50 a pop there's absolutely no excuse for sub-par quality.

It's possible Errea have upped their game on that front, particularly now they're much more established. On the flip side would we continue to have as much flexibility with the designs or do they now use more of a "template" approach given the number of clubs they supply?

Hundreds of non league clubs have used them for years so the quality has clearly improved as most of these clubs can't afford a new kit every season.

But as someone else mentioned I'd like us to explore a relationship with Umbro or even Puma.

We'll explore whichever relationship makes most sense commercially for the club.

Why do you think that the club aren't doing that (if indeed they aren't), it's not because Gibson is blinded by Errea's dazzling marketing campaigns but because it doesn't make sense commerically.

Obviously. It doesnt actually bother me which sponsor we use in all honesty but in a fictional world where we all run a football club we can voice who we'd prefer our club to use if it was a possibilty

Boro in Umbro would be a bit of a childhood dream come true. Loved their 90's kits and I do like what they do now, taking an individual approach to each club.

I think the modern Hummel kits have been great all in all, and I can't say I'm disappointed with the quality of the ones I have - they still do the job when used - but I think the writing has been on the wall since being unable to buy this season's home shirt for months. The green shirt felt like a bit of a missed opportunity too.

Agreed with the missed opportunity. I am biased as The Green Dickens is probably my favourite shirt and it was a massive let down. Some of the concepts made by fans have been so much better than this years shirt

Agree with the OP.
Have had a few of the old Errea kits and they are all clicked somewhere. Some were alright, few good and many bl00dy awful.
I think the pick has to be the green Dickens shirt, and the blue/black 01/02 shirt. Do however have a soft spot for the White and purple away kit 99/00

I wouldn't be against Puma or Umbro either.

wasn't some commercial guy who used to work for the Boro associated with them and he left us to go and work direct for Errea. can't remember his name

I would imagine Boro's strategy of marketing on their website/club shop only is a factor in agreeing commercial terms with any manufacturer. Obviously they had a previous agreement with Adidas and made it work, but that doesn't necessarily mean they achieve it with someone else.
There's a lot of negativity towards errea but i thought the adidas kits, in terms of design, were the worst we've had other than a couple of exceptions
