England footballer Danny Rose has claimed he is regularly stopped by police in his hometown - and was breathalysed after being approached by officers in a car park last week.
The Premier League star said he is often asked by officers whether his car is stolen when returning home to Doncaster.

"My friends have been there with me a lot of the time when it's happened," he told the Second Captains podcast.
"The last time, last week, when I'd just been at my mum's house, I had pulled up in a car park so the engine was off.
"The police pulled in and they brought a riot van, three police cars and they questioned me. They said they'd had a report that a car had not been driving correctly.
"So I'm like; 'Okay, so why does that make it my car?' I got my ID out and they breathalysed me. It's just honestly one of those things to me now. What can I do?"

That has gone on for decades, I used to get stopped much more regularly as a young lad when driving. I never get stopped now. What Danny Rose should do is refuse to answer any questions, it's none of the polices business where he lives, where he is going and he certainly doesn't have to prove the car is not stolen.

I very much imagine many footballers get stopped. They are often young lads (even teenagers) driving 50k+ cars.

The very nature of that will get you stopped no matter what colour you are. Also the very blacked out windows probably don't help.

We have a lad at work who's 22. He recently got a Audi S3 on finance. He's been pulled over 3-4 times in a couple of months. The usual response is 'that's a nice car' from the police and ask what he's up too etc. They just think he's a drug dealer😂

He's white. Clearly being pulled over for a different 'stereotype' of young lad in S3 = dealer. I don't see him bleating over social media.

I am sure most people would like Danny Roses 'problems'.

I think its easy for white poeple to dismiss his comments, given they are never detrimented by racial bias, but it can only be a good thing that its discussed.

And there's a world of difference between bias created by the type of car you drive verses the colour of your skin.

Theres nothing trivial about being treated as second class.
Racism is violence, no mattere how you try to trivialise it.

One of Danny rose problems is mental health, not sure most people would want it.

I've never been stopped since passing my test in the mid-2000s ....

Must be awful like ... having to prove he is innocent every 5 minutes

It’s a shame that people have to go through this.
Some people deserve to be challenged at every opportunity
But not because of skin colour. I don’t think I’ll be alive long enough to see
Racism eradicated from our society.
