End of barlassor you’d think…

Best midfielder of the 3 by a distance today but I'm sure Howson will replace him.

Then we will play no better (hopefully picking up some points mind!)... With the tools we have we're crying out for 4-3-3. Someone to sit behind Hackney and Barlaser.

With Rogers given a run on the wing (his position I believe?!).

Yet another thread coming after our Dan when Hayden was absolutely dreadful today and against Millwall.

Howson was dreadful when he came on and he's 37!

The fans give both a pass because Hackney is the young local 'prodigy' and Howson is part of the furniture.
Thought they were all poor to be honest

He can have a defence splitting pass in him at any time and I like his bravery in trying such passes. Defensively he doesn’t do that much. I dont think Howson is going to be an answer to our problems though.
I agree with you, I just think howson needs to return and either play barlassor in his best position or leave him out however, I agree that we are badly missing akpom (who’s history!) and also archer or some quality up top because rogers isn’t any of that!!!

Many many problems and we await some answers mr Carrick and mr Scott ????

Why is Barlaser the scape goat, the team as a whole wasnt very good today and hackney clearly needs a more experienced pro alongside him for him to shine as he has stopped playing simple and doing the right things is forcing the game and not doing enough again IMO, Barlaser may well be not flying at the moment but has an acute pass and is always looking to thread between the lines even though at times you can see the pass a mile of due to his body position he is brave and always probing and has been no better or worse than any other player but does have 2 assists in three this season ....

If I were very critical I'd say the only thing that Barlaser should have done better today would be getting involved in the final 3rd (though he really started doing that and pulling strings before... Getting subbed.)

I think this is down to instruction though, looks like he's been told to sit deep and stay there. He is Diengs outball the vast majority of the time.

There was talk of Barlaser being made available for loan..

up to five first team players?

Roberts
Hoppe
Coburn
Barlaser
Payero

He plays some good passes at times but he just doesn’t grab hold of the game for me and too weak defensively. I’d make him our fourth choice centre midfielder if we get someone through the door who can take his place and maybe someone who can even keep Howson out of the team.

But Howsons back in next week for me as he brings the best out of Hackney and we aren’t getting results with Barlaser and Hackney so needs to be changed

Barlaser is the holding mid. He might not be great but he’s not the reason we can’t score. That’s our ineffective attackers

As a team the tempo the sharpness the movement is a mile off at the moment, is that becuase we are still understanding each others games or is it because players are just not good enough, who knows at the moment, for me at the moment and this is not aimed at players, paddy is not a RB, coulson is not good enough for this level unfortunately, jones needs to do better, impact player, crooks impact player, rodgers wide or no 10 not CF, to many players out of position but not doing the basics, talking, overlapping in wide areas there is no space as we all clump together instead of wide players/fullbacks staying wide and giving width, when a player runs the channel play the ball its all to hesitent and slow which makes other players look worse.

Hard work to be done and players needed, this is definately carricks worst time at boro and it is only going to get more difficult before the end of the month, huddersfield and west brom to come, can carrick change tactics, do we need too?

Or are we back to managers who are set in there ways, unfortunately we are not man city and our squad and depth is lacking so something needs to change to get the best out of the players available at present !

Thought we looked worse today after we took Barlaser off. However, we need to be more solid in midfield, so him and Hackney are too similar. Playing both Jones and Silvera today left us too open. Carrick seems to have taken too much notice of decent performances against Huddersfield reserves.

Baffling decision to take off barlaser, he was our best player in my opinion and in the opinion of countless others on here

It was also his best game for boro imho, if he was going to hook a one of the midfielders it should have been crooks, then hackney then Barlaser

Carrick needs howson in there. That’s the easy one for me. Carrick just needs to consider barlassor or Hackney because it looks like he ain’t fancying a 3 in there. Obviously we are missing a left back, chuba is leaving a hole and we have no striker. Major issues if we are honest with ourselves

paddy is not a RB, coulson is not good enough for this level unfortunately,
I agree with your full post but just wanted to highlight this part. If we had a decent left back and right back we would look a lot better. McNair and Coulson kept cutting inside which left us exposed on the wide areas on defence and on attack they didn't overlap the wide forwards so the Coventry defence wasn't getting stretched across the pitch and so the forward players weren't getting the space needed. I'm not blaming any individual players but for me that showed we are 4 possibly 5 players short from being a team that can look to make a promotion push this season LB,RB, CM,striker and possibly a number 10 depending if the players we have can fill that role once the team is balanced. Obviously we have a few players out injured or returning from injury so things might look better once these are back.

Thought Barlaser was okay today - definitely not the worst performance.

As he is technically decent, good passer, could he be pushed into a No 10 type role......or would Rogers be favourite for that?

Chuba was moved back and excelled, could Barlaser be moved forward (obviously won't get a 20+ goal return) 🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️

Or is he the escape goat for all of Boros woes? 😉
