Emilio Nsue

It’s true tbf. I thought he was hit and miss. Decent going forward but easily exploitable defensively.

Hence why Karanka started to use Whitehead as a right back for certain games

I don't think AK even tried Nsue at RB until after Whitehead left.

Anyway, we conceded 25 league goals in the 40 league matches Nsue played in (6 in 6 without, for what that's worth). If only our defence was that easy to exploit today.

I Won't claim he was the greatest defender: fans appreciate a player giving it his all in a makeshift position to help the team, which is what he did. However, any "weak link" comments have to be made in the context of the strength of the other links which, in that particular chain, were frankly awesome.

I used to teach and work in Equatorial Guinea and we had a group of students in Boro. I took them to a match and they wanted to meet their hero. He’d played every match that season so it was a dead cert they’d meet him. For some reason he wasn’t even on the bench that day. We were all gutted. Luckily he did attend and they unfurled a large EG flag when the players came out after the game and he ran over to them.. it was truly heart warming to see the joy on his face and theirs. Shame he didn’t play though.
