Edinburgh advice

I’m off up to Edinburgh for the marathon festival at the end of the month ( 26th ). Bit of a late entrant so any hotels in Edinburgh that are available are extortionate and I’m raising money for charity so can’t really justify paying £300+ per night. We’re thinking of staying outside the city and travelling in on race day, has anyone got any little hidden gems/tips of places to stay outside of the city that might be a bit more cost effective? TIA 👍

Most places have a good train service or late buses
Try Edinburgh Gateway/Park/Airport, or a bit further afield Falkirk/Kirkcaldy/Dunfermline are only 20 or so mins away by train
Also Livingston town centre but you need a bus

Even the Haven park is over £400 but its bank holiday weekend

The 26 bus goes from Seton Sands right into Edinburgh

We can get the 3 nights at the Haven Park probably for the same price the hotels are going to end up being. Looks like we might end up making it a little family weekend away as well 👍
