Early Retirement.

There was an offer of redundancy for 1 out 4 of us in the same job, one of the lads beat me too it, but they have listened to my request after moaning on a bit and they gave in . So I thought I will take it.
Been there a good few years and the package is good, so I will finish on Friday. Full time on the hobby horse🚀

UTB UTLP.

Good luck. Early retirement AND redundancy - well played sir 👍

Quite a few of my former colleagues have done similar, most of them mid 50s......not one of them have regretted it, or felt the need to return to work in any capacity.

Not jealous, honestly.........😁😁

Get a part time job. You become irrelevant and invisible when you retire.it's also not such a shock to the system if you take on a p/ t job.
Good luck and well done either way.
I retired at 58 and never felt compelled to get a pt job to feel relevant. Indeed the quality time it provides allows you to do so many things you didn’t get the chance to do when working.

Exactly what I would recommend. Had 6 months off after redundancy and could have retired, but now work 16 hours a week. Best of both worlds.

The idea you need to work for 'something to do' post retirement is an incredibly sad notion from my perspective

I know a few lads close to 70, all millionaires who go into work still on a 9 to 5 purely for 'something to do'

2 more years for me and retire at 50, most enjoyable time of my life was in my early 30's when i was signing on without a care in the world ,sleep till i want, watch tv until 2am if i want
go fishing, hiking when i want, make music , play games on a rainy wintery day, i would never be bored enough to have to find a job to feel'relevant' what a silly idea that is

I’m coming up 52 so a few years yet for me (6 maybe 🤞) but I don’t think I’ll be bored or irrelevant when (if 🤞) I get there.

Hope you have a long and happy retirement MR7 👍

I've been busier since I retired. Just having a post school run cuppa then off to the ground to tidy up after last night's match. Shopping list at the ready after that and the European ironing mountain for this afty before I put the dinner on .

Good luck mate. Wife and me retired early just over 2 years ago and never looked back. Both absolutely loving it. Not even considered looking for a fill in job. Love the freedom and can always find something to do, often making another cuppa 😁. Enjoy it, you've earned it.

Good luck, retired at 58, as it turns out right at the start of the pandemic 🙈 spent most of the first year walking round and round the woods any handwashing 200 times a day - and even that was better than working!

It’s the best thing ever, as for getting a part time job, not for mr thanks, haven’t got time.

Keen to learn more about early retirement.

I’m at a cross road where I can be either mortgage free but live amongst social housing or move but have to work until retirement age.
