I wouldn’t take too much notice of the Boro boo boys, the other week they wanted Jones to be scapegoated, they have been very quiet since the Wigan match.

If we are to change formation from 3-5-2 to either 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1 then I think Watmore becomes even more invaluable. As a winger turned striker I think those positions off the striker will suit him down to the ground.

I've always rated him, worst part of his game is compusre in front of goal when he has too much time to think of it, but other than that cant really fault him. And despite that he still has a pretty good scoring record for us.
 
I said to someone the other day that's he's arguably one of our best signings in recent championship seasons. I would even say 'best' if you think he cost nothing.

He's seen off a whole catalogue of Boro forwards. The majority of the loan forwards come with reputations and even bigger loan / wage fees.

He grafts. Also his head never drops or shirks responsibility even when we have been woeful.

I think he would be the first forward on the team sheet everyweek other than having to 'manage him' injury wise. He gives you something none of the others do.

That said. I'd be very suprised if he starts today. A 3 game week maybe a bit of a stretch conditioning wise. Again he'd start every week for me other than managing him. Yet today expect him to be a 'super' sub.
 
I’ve said the same about him for a while now, if we seriously want to go up then he can’t be starting for us but you can’t help but love the lad, gives his all for however long he’s on the pitch. He came in on a free at a time when we were paying Britt and Fletcher an absolute fortune and he embarrassed the pair of them.

But as it stands we aren’t in anything like a promotion race so he’s more than good enough for the battle we are currently in.
 
I think he’s the best of some very poor forward options, which says everything about our recruitment team. Fair play to him for running around, but that’s what he’s paid to do.

He’s a good option for bottom half champo/league 1 teams.

Jokes aside whilst I agree 'running around' should be a giver and the very least a player does. We know from very recent history that's definitely not the case.

At this moment in time yes! But if we want to eventually progress, he’s limited.
 
If Watmore is the best option, it's a very depressing situation. He tries, he runs around a lot and he encourages others, but these should be the minimum requirement.

His finishing is dreadful and he runs down blind alleys.

But if there's nobody else then he'll have to do.
