Dubai Airport Stopover

I have a connection in Dubai next Saturday morning which means I have a 6 hour stopover at the Airport. This is my first time travelling through Dubai so I was wondering if anyone has any tips on what to do other than sitting in the business lounge drinking? Shops and restaurants recommendations or any other experiences? I am also presuming that this does not give me enough time to visit the city? Any help would be most appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Probably not enough time to go into the city, but it's a HUGE airport and loads of shops etc. There's a huge watch shop that I could spend a couple of days in, although I know its not everyones sort of thing :)

Just flew back from there yesterday,I had a 12 hour layover but didn’t leave the airport as I was booked in the airport hotel, quite a lot of bars and restaurants however rather pricey at £12 for a pint of Morretti. Hotel drink prices were cheaper
Stay in the lounge is my advice.

Lounges at Dubai are great, as it’s a “help yourself to beers wines and spirits” sort of set up 👍🏻👍🏻

Go for a ride on the Metro - From the Airport, It will take you all the way up to Jebel Ali - and then back - It's cheap enough and you get a good look at the Canals, Burj, Sheik Zayed Rd and some views of the coast. Takes about 50 minutes from Airport to JA - though, you don't really need to go that far up.

I'm not sure if this still applies but last time we went through there and had a long connection they gave us a book of vouchers to use in the restaurants and bars. I think >4 hours between flights was the threshold.
This was pre-pandemic though.

It was always waaaayyy more expensive in the airport compared to the Irish Village.
Last time I was there a pint of Guiness was AED 35 (£6) and some decent grub about AED 80 (£13-£15). If the weathers ok, it's v pleasant sitting outside and there is always sport on inside.

Taxi there will be AED35 - expensive because it's from the airport which has a different Tarif But only take 5 minutes.

A nice bite to eat and a couple of beers in the buisness lounge. A wander around some of the shops. A bit of plane spotting. Reading a book.

I think I was there for about 4.5 hours, which sounded horrendous to me. But by the time I got off and found the lounge and then allowed myself enough time to get to the gate for the next flight (this can take ages to walk if it at the other end of the airport) left me with only about 3 hours to kill.

I used to stop for 3 hours in Dubai fairly regularly.
Plenty of good shops you can kill an hour to two hours in.

I used to have a couple of pints in Heineken bar which will likely be showing football from somewhere in the world.

Some nice little sushi stalls and over asian food stalls around the Heineken Bar as well.

I wouldn't stress about killing 6 hours in Dubai Airport. The time will soon pass. Sleep pods are always an option if you think you may be tired.
