Dropping passengers off and picking up at Teesside Airport.

Anybody done it lately? It says £2.50 on the website but not exactly where you drop off / pick up and how to pay. It also says something about it being free if you use the Skybar, Landslide Cafe or Fair Lloyds office. How does that work? Do they give you money or validate your ticket somehow?

I work on the airport. They are cracking down on stopping at the roundabout. It may have been a one off but the other a traffic warden was stood near the roundabout when I left the car park. Also they are warnings cctv no stopping allow £100 fine on ind.est side but I’ve not seen any near the roundabout.

Isn't it amazing that a ten bob business being bailed out by the rate payer can commandeer a traffic warden, paid for by the rate payer, to make a few extra bob out of the rate payer.

If the people running the airport were smart (which we already know they're not), it would make sense to actively encourage people to drop passengers off.

There's already no trains or buses, so no other means of getting there... Forcing people to pay a few quid extra is only going to annoy people, for very little financial benefit.

Enforce a 10 minute time limit to ensure they're just dropping off fixes all the potential traffic/parking issues.

So how does the £2.50 dropoff / pickup work then?

Drop off car park is the car park on the right as you approach. I.e. Next to where the aircraft are. You can get it *free* if you pop in for a coffee or whatever, the person serving will take your name and reg to validate.

OK, found it, thanks. I was looking at the big carpark. I presume that is the smaller carpark on “Google street view” with the sign that says “Durham Tees Valley Airport, Up to 10 minutes FREE”. Looks like it is £2.50 now!

Correct they will fine you. Come in the other way and drop off in the industrial estate.

Every major airport in the U.K charge to use the drop off and pick up service closest to the airport. £2.50 isn’t much in comparison to a cost of a flight…or a £100 fine.

It IS wrong mate, yet another example of the general public being constantly ripped off! Mind you, it costs £4 to drop off near the terminal at Newcastle Airport. Boils my pish!!
All free here in Thailand at BKK airport, just drive up and there are 12 entry gates to park in front of ... same on departure from airport all free
