I’ve been prosecuted for it around 25/30 years ago, bank holiday weekend had been on drink Friday ,Saturday ,Sunday , on the Sunday evening my then partner drove down to meet me at 7pm , fast forward to a blazing row between us , I took the car keys off her , and jumped in the car which was parked a street away , set off , forgot to put my glasses on , took eyes off road to look for them and drove straight into a parked car !!
The car I hit was on a hill and rolled into the car in front and damaged that too , from setting off I had travelled less than 200 metres at a guess and was doing less than 30 , nobody hurt thankfully but I cut my knee open and was momentarily knocked out when my head smashed the windscreen .
Went to court and received a years ban and £900 fine , never done it since then , hardly drink now tbh , the shame I felt and realisation of what could have happened had a profound effect on me , one thing I was surprised by though , considering the amount I had drank that weekend , my readings were far less than I expected , well under twice the limit ! Which certainly shows everybody,s body is different with alcohol .
And before anyone jumps on to slate what I’ve written , I was young ,daft as a brush , Drink driving is for idiots and ruins lives .
