Dreadful watch

We got better and better as the match went on. At least we didn’t concede in the first half when they were on top.
Leaving the ground, I was trying to remember the last time we scored 3 ( or more) for 4 league games in a row. It must have been a long time ago. Brian Clough era?

Again people with no clue about football and what Wednesday took out of the players, not just physically but emotionally. Forss ran his n##s off the other night and being rested gets him fresh for West Brom and as others have said these players need minutes so today worked out perfectly.

Look at archer today, first half was leggy, touch shocking, second half had them chasing shadows. We need as fans to have much more patience and a little bit more understanding. Just listen to Michael Carrick, he knows what he's on about.

Well it seems my observations of the first 30 minutes yesterday hit a nerve with some people, I am no keyboard warrior ,I am nearing 70 years old and have followed boro all my life through the good and the absolutely dreadful times, it was a dreadful watch , and the 3 changes did have an impact on the way we played, I'm sure Carrick had Barlaser, Ramsey and Mcnair in first thing Thursday morning and told them they would be starting and worked with them accordingly. I know we can't be brilliant every game however my observation was the impact the changes had on the rest of the team we did look like strangers. As for only posting when we are rubbish, I'll think you will find the few posts I have posted have been fair and to the point. Is it any wonder people leave this forum just for having an opinion of their own, constantly getting slagged off because they don't agree with you..........

If you thought that was dreadful then you need to follow another side.

Ok we struggled to get into the game but we’d just beat sheff u we had 3 key changes to the side but at no point we ever dreadful.

Btw we still won 3-1.

Dreadful ????

Reminds me of the last promotion season. Social media didn’t really exist the time before that in 1998 so we weren’t as exposed to such a wide range of opinions.

Once the team starts winning and doing well, an online cohort always emerges who expects every half of football to be better than the last. If there’s ever any fluctuation, it’s time to criticise and win those online brownie points for spotting a bad run coming “before everyone else did.” We need to brace ourselves for the time that results do have a wobble, however minor, as these folk will be all over it.

In reality form just comes and goes and even during good spells you have bad spells during games.

In 2015/2016 there were a number of folk absolutely fixated on the fact we didn’t have a centre forward who was banging goals in. It didn’t seem to matter to them that the team were easily one of the best in the division for the entire season.

You still haven't answered my question -how many posts have you made praising the team in our best run of form in probably decades? Without even checking I'm guessing it's none. If I'm wrong I'll delete all my posts from this thread and offer you a sincere apology.

I'll admit, midway through the first-half I was slightly worried that Carrick had made his first boo-boo by tinkering and making too many changes. Fair enough, it was our third game within the space of a week but I wasn't sure whether it was necessary, given that we would have a week off before the next game vs WBA.

All worked out in the end though and great that we were able to get away with giving Howson and Forss a breather. I'm still hoping it doesn't happen too many more times from now until the end of the season though. I think it is important that we have continuity with regards to team selections.

Did you see the intensity of Forrs warm up though I was certain he’d be coming on.

It wasn’t great, but dreadful may be a bit OTT. Dreadful was the crap I had to watch when we played Cardiff at home and were 3-0 down at half time.

Maybe in comparison to some of the heights we’ve reached recently we looked “dreadful”, but I’ve watched a lot worse than the first 45 yesterday.

It was a slow first half and we struggled to stamp our authority on the game. QPR made it difficult for us but our class shone through in the second half.

Everyone’s entitled to an opinion though! UTB 👍

Surely, getting through the struggles of the first half puts us in a considerably better position going forward for the rest of the season, squad wise. The players that came in for Fry, Howson and Forss all play a very different game to the players they replaced. Our options have really increased in terms of different players, approaches and formations. That could be so handy in the remaining matches.

If you really are 70, I'd like to suggest you have recalibrated 'dreadful' over the years. Our Dad has only a couple of years on you and his measure is whether the game was as bad as those he saw against Grimsby back in the day. I think the quick turnaround of a 1-5 and 1-3 in '84 before Christmas added to his miserable memory of the 1-4 in '82. Each to their own though.
