Dover Ferries : Long Delays

In Europe, the main deciding factor on whether you get held up when flying is not your own passport; it's where the flight or flights arriving at your destination have come in from.

A UK passport holder will get less held up flying between 2 Schengen countries than an EU passport holder flying between the UK and a Schengen area country.

Yes, it could be less than 30 seconds, I was calculating at the upper end to see what the max disruption could be and as more technical solutions creep in that will come down anyway. On the other hand, the problem for the airlines is staff shortages exacerbated by Brexit and covid. I can see people actually taking longer to queue on passenger flights sometimes, but it shouldn't mean it's not doable and flights therefore won't get delayed.

Totally different kettle of fish for freight. The maths lines up with what we are seeing happening, doesn't it?
Freight is the biggest issue, you are right. I posted above that the median wait at dover for freight is 43 hours, IIR. If you don't live in Kent or don't export goods to the EU you don't notice this though.

Presently sat in the car on the Euro and it took a total of 18 minutes to drive from the car park, navigate through French border control and then through the British. I was literally at the French window 30 seconds.

I have sat in the queue much longer prior to Brexit.

On another note, whilst travelling from Alencon to Calais, I noticed a few EU wagons displaying banners ‘we do not travel to the UK’.

Sounds good. I've got ones with a plane and ship so far. I wonder how many are in the set 🙂
Got my first plane one :(

Disappointed I didn't get a ship one, as sailed into Gibraltar from the EU. They must be special.

Hopefully I'll get a choo choo when I do the Eurotunnel.
