Rats and ships springs to mind
It is reported that 10% of Tory MPs won't be standing in the next election, that is 37 in total. I would like to think it was because they know they will lose their seat but I am sure they will all have their own excuses for not wanting to stand.

I had a right pop at my MP over a couple of issues relating to the economy and Liz Truss’s disastrous tanking of it about 9 months ago. I said to him, please don’t send a non descipt standard response and provide a direct answer to a highlighted question. I was sent a non descript response.

I replied that he was clearly putting party before constituents and the country and i suspect now he had received his knighthood, that he’d no doubt sail in to the sunset at the next election as he would not want to risk a defeat. He actually responded saying he had no plans whatsoever to not stand again and how he enjoyed his role and had an excellent track record representing the area. Well guess who announced recently he won’t be standing at the next election!!!

Next thing I expect, is for him to suddenly appear in the Lords after doing his bit for Sunak.

They're multi-millionaires and have spent the last 3-13 years lining their pockets and setting themselves up in lucrative positions for life?
